First of all, there will never be "infinite" resources. Mining in space cant produce large quantities of perfectly usable materials.
"Hey guys, im just gonna mine some water and some soda"
Also, you have to build technology and hire specialized persons to do the mining.
"We want a person who has 5 years of experience in space mining and a BA in underwater basket weaving."
When you understand that rare resources on earth are generally also rare resources in space, precious metals regain some of their shine.
