Talent does not lead to Money
You could make Mozart's works look like "intro to" music and still be homeless, whilst people like Katy Perry and ACDC make more than I've ever seen pushing out the same chords and progressions. Apply the same concept to other art forms.
If you can't make a product people want to buy, or if you don't sell it (it's for the love of the art, man, there should be no price on expression), it literally doesn't matter how good you are, you'll starve.

My mother is pretty skilled at painting and many forms of textile work. People ask her to do all sorts of custom stuff for them. A while ago she wove this long ass carpet with the first SMB level. Think the guy paid $1200 for it.
People with both programming and graphics art skills should be making mad cash in this day and age where video games can make you a 2.4 billionaire.
