when has /biz/ missed out on lucrative trades and investments, because of overthinking the ethics of the situation?

Never
I sold PCYC because of a girl that I like (muh poor animals - experiments in the pharma industry...)
Bought at 123,860 USD, sold at 154,60 USD. ~770 € profit for me after taxes and fees.
The company was bought for over 250 USD a share. I think i missed out 2-3k, I'm too lazy to calculate it right now.
I only bought it because of the old /pol/ stock/forex/investments general thread by 'wipe'. I still own my GMO shares (about -60% in the red, but I bought only 1500 shares)
Sounds like you need to do the math on your ethics.
Making bets on mcdonalds stock is not owning a mcdonalds franchise and shoveling addicting dogfood down idiots throats for cheap.

I'm new to stocks, so I wasn't entirely familiar with how companies benefited from stocks.
Basically, I made a killing off of Barrick during Brexit, but then saw a story about how they'd leaked cyanide into a lake at one of their mining operations and fired a whistleblower for raising concerns about it. I felt really bad about contributing to a company doing things like that, so I checked online how exactly it was that stocks benefit companies. When companies initially sell their stocks, they earn a profit. Everything after that is just value being traded between shareholders; the company doesn't earn anything, though its members can if they're also shareholders. That made me feel a little better.
In a few months they will have if they don't get into trumpcoin
