I'm learning code apps rn but is the app making industry a viable method of making money (ad revenue/selling it).

It was once. Now making an app that becomes popular is like winning the lottery. Best bet is making a game that is an innovation of a previously popular game.

Case point: Slither.io is super popular, some sources state the developer makes 100k PER DAY in revenue (others state 30k/day but still it's a shitload). The app idea is simply an innovation of the website agar.io.

that being said, agar.io also makes tonnes of money itself. But the point is if you wanna make big money: copy a popular game with your own unique twist and hope it gains popularity. If it doesn't keep trying until something sticks.

Translation: take successful ideas that are not currently apps, and turn them into apps. I'm a full time app CEO (no, really, a real one) and this is pretty much my entire model. I stay away from games though.

How fucking long does it take to learn to code though?

I learned how to make basic games in Python, but I still wasn't equipped with how to actually make anything worthwhile.

You're too late, I have a friend who made a fortune making those shitty type of apps where it tells you your true love and stuff like that back when the iphone was relatively new

Those still work.

80% of an average person's time is spent across 3 apps

The average smartphone user has installed 0 apps in the last month

The revenue of being featured in the app store, is 10 times less than what is was roughly 2 years ago

I think it's pretty dead senpai

How do I make a mobile app that makes it big. I have an idea for a chat messaging service kinda like Kik, but I don't know how to make it blow up

Also, what's the best way to make a mobile game that gets really popular so I can move out of my parents' house and on my own and also pay for my tuition?

2 terrible ideas
>messaging
>games

Completely over saturated and impossible to succeed in. Photos are another bad one.

The other categories are where the low hanging fruit is still at. Use your brain.
