It's an excellent place to START. That's where most high school students and college intro economics classes work. If you want to go deeper, Mankiw will not be enough.

The most important part is learning the jargon of economics, the terms and so forth.
Otherwise it's a totally horse shit subject, especially when it comes to macro.
