It's not enough.
Investing is not worth it if you don't have at least $5,000 to $10,000 as a starting capital, plus a regular income.
Anyway, the responsible thing to do is to always keep up to $10,000 in cash on your bank account, in case of emergency. So just keep your $1,000.
