We've talked about this a good bit at home. I've never been able to come up with a good scenario where I would need 15k in cash Today when 15k in cash a week from now wouldn't be viable. I just turned 24 and I have like 110K in bank, but most of it (100K) is in a locked legacy product from when inflation was a lot higher: can't withdraw without "breaking" it, can't credit, but I get to watch it snowball at guaranteed 3.8% forever.

Also, good point, when a bank is paying $12 an hour, don't expect beyond basic counting skills from the teller.
