Computer Science. Start learning a programming language before college to see whether you like it and to get a head start. There are tons of books out there to help you. After college move to san francisco for inflated salaries to make your family proud. Pick a 80-100k entry job. Work on yourself by trying modern technologies in your free time (aparently employers hate paying for training but they love overpaying for someone with the proper skills) then move up to get compensated with stock at one of the big four (Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon).
