WAVES release is in 3 days.

>What is WAVES?
WAVES is a coin that focuses on smart contracts rather than just moving money around.

>How can I buy WAVES?
On June 14th, it will be released on major exchanges.

>Is this a pump and dump?
Unlikely, it's already been confirmed for use in the Mycelium wallet.

>Raised $14 million in the ICO
>Confirmed for respectable wallet
>Why are you still waiting on ETH when this actually has potential?
>>
You can pre-purchase WAVES now on yobit.

https://yobit.net/en/trade/WAVES/BTC/?bonus=eLJwf
>>
>>1299212
yea yea. remember what happened to LSK IOU? No thank you.
>>
>>1299197
>It's not a pump and dump

Sure it isn't.
>>
Im bullish for waves, i just downloaded the lite client and the interface looks very nice.

If it can really do everything it says it can do then it will be a killer app.
>>
>>1299197
>Why are you still waiting for ETH?

Because, as a developer, I see potential in it.

It can be turned into a literal decentralized internet, on the internet via web apps.

Fuck that Crypto-shit, this is what gets be excited.

Decentralized fucking porn that no one can block.

Even Micro$oft is on board with it.
>>
>>1299197
ETH and waves are really two entirely different things.

Waves is more about exchanging fiat currencies it seems. ETH is the world computer
>>
What about investing in IDNI Agoras tokens on tauchain invented by this guy

i don't know if it's because i don't know anything about business & finances, but all the cryptocoin stuff always seem so fishy or stupid. i suspect that most people that are into this stuff haven't actually made a lot of money before, but i don't know
>>
>>1299517
Fishy?

Yes, its extremely fishy. Please do not invest and make easy profits.
>>
>>1299517
Every single one except BTC and possibly ETH and LISK are pump and dumps

There is a vast amount of money to be made here. The trick is to not be greedy and sell before the owners dump and hand you the bag.
>>
>>1299572
Waves is less scammy than lisk. Lisk doesnt even work and the whole concept is worthless and pointless

Waves is a real thing that is useful

Yeah he just named one of the big design flaws in ETH.
Question is how big is the potential market for the kind of provably correct smart contracts he is talking about. Id say its pretty niche.
Thx for posting though.
>>
>>1300262
it's a very esoteric and patrician altcoin for the discerning investor
>>
Just read the IPO thread. None of their claims are in any way accurate. Here's a brief list of refutations:
* They claim to be the first decentralized crowd funding platform - Lighthouse currency exists and was released -years- before WAVES -- there are probably even more platforms than this too.
* They claim to be the first decentralized stock exchange platform. Incorrect. Everything that they suggest was already possible using Counterparty and other projects.
* They claim to be the first decentralized exchange. Incorrect. Numerous exchanges already exist such as Bitsquare, Bithalo, Coinffeine, etc. (There were practical decentralized exchanges in 2013.)

It seems to me like they're aiming mostly at asset exchange so let me just give you some advice as one of the people who worked on early decentralized exchange systems -- don't invest. There is no money to be made in this sector as centralized systems work better for the end user and decentralized systems offer no benefits over centralized systems other than security which is invisible to the user.

If you like high risk trading you might be able to make money on the initial pump if you buy in early enough but this is definitely not a long term investment.
>>
>>1300318
i actually disagree strongly.

I think this russian has the balls to pull it off.
the angle is basically to not reinvent the wheel but do it all quickly. and get fiat gateways open as fast as possible.

if he can take over some of the remittance game with all this fiat shenanigans then it could be huge.
>>
why the fuck does everyone have such a hard on for smart contracts?

it's just fucking code? nobody is going to use your shitty cyptocurrency just so they can run some code.

if it's actually useful, the banks will develop their own networks and business will use that. nobody apart from autists gives a fuck about decentralization.
>>
>>1300354
Let the autists figure it out, you can use it when it just werks. good coping until then.
>>
>>1300354
>who cares about decentralisation

I think we are all coming to realise just how important it is.
>>
>>1300357
>lol i can't address any of the points so i'll post a snide comeback lol

fuck off

>>1300362
why? there is no accountability with decentralisation, who do you sue if something goes wrong and costs you millions? how does a business quantify this risk?
>>
>>1300365
The beauty of it is there is no one to sue.
>>
>>1300367
businesses want accountability. who will make the call to use a system where they are left with no recourse if something goes wrong? and for what, to save a few dollars in bank fees?

i don't get it. would you buy a new car with no warranty if it meant you could do it anonymously?
>>
Just put 3 BTC on WAVES.

This ride is gonna be EPIC
>>
>>1300374

is your claim really that nothing will ever go wrong? why the need for lightning networks? why do new currencies/networks keep getting developed, each one claiming to be better than the previous? what happens if adoption outpaces development?

i think my initial questions also remain unanswered. aren't smart contracts just code (i'm not trolling - it's an honest question)? what's stopping banks doing the same thing, without forcing their customers to use volatile cryptocurrencies?
>>
>>1299197
I'm new to this board and crypto-currencies so what would you recommend as a good broker to go through for trading?
>>
>>1300430
>is your claim really that nothing will ever go wrong?
yes
>what's stopping banks doing the same thing, without forcing their customers to use volatile cryptocurrencies
the volatile cryptocurrency is the whole point of the things. you're basically asking why won't banks voluntarily dissolve themselves
>>
>>1300440
poloniex
>>
>>1300447
>yes
lel. can you name ONE other piece of popular software that hasn't had bugs?

>the volatile cryptocurrency is the whole point of the things
ok, how does a business benefit from using volatile cyptos vs fiat? more to the point, why does almost every business that claims to accept cyptos partner with an exchange and actually get paid in fiat (ie - they don't really accept cryptos, the exchange does, and they pay the company in USD/whatever)?
>>
>>1300459
try using it before you pass judgement. cryptos are usually very open and are becoming more user friendly. waves seems to be one of the most user friendly looking i have seen so far
>>
I'll admit I was skeptical of waves at first. I bought in with the 20% day one bonus and did a few bounties figuring I'd dump asap for a quick profit. The more I see out of the waves team the more I think it is a long hold though. The lite web client looks and functions amazingly well, the main chain is running smoothly and the devs actually seem to know what they are doing. They're making the lisk launch look like amateur hour.
>>
>>1300461
i have a bitcoin wallet and i've played with mining alt coins. i don't think anything is as 'user friendly' as fiat.

i'm not against cryptos, i just don't 'get' the fundamental driver behind them.
>>
>>1300488
What are you having difficulty with?
>>
>>1300590
i don't see why business would adopt it over fiat. nor what's stopping banks from creating their own networks for smart contracts.
>>
>>1299197

>>
>>1299197
>Raised $14 million in the ICO
>in the ICO
>ICO occurred in the past

what's the point now? The first tier ponzi bracket has already closed out.
>>
>>1301678
the main features have not been implemented yet.

the ICO was to generate funds to implement them, such as fiat gateways, decentralised exchange, voting etc.

each time one of these features is implemented the price will go up.

waves has the possibility to take over the remittance market in a big way, so the market cap could be billions easily.

that's still 50X profit to anyone buying when it hits exchanges.

>waves has the possibility to take over the remittance market in a big way, so the market cap could be billions easily.

or it could be nothing as the 'next big thing' comes out and replaces it, much like waves is pitched to replace eth.

ps. nobody is using eth either, despite the shilling.

if there is value in smart contracts the banks will build their own systems.

by all means, buy into waves if you think it'll go up and ride the hypetrain, but let's not pretend there's anything of actual value here.
>>
>>1302302
waves is nothing like ETH the OP is confused.

waves wants to concentrate on asset markets and currency exchange, it's not in the business of developing it's own scripting language or anything like that.

waves is also russian, and they will be taking in some of the russian currency craziness.

waves could be as big as BTC for moving money around, protecting from inflation etc.

>>
at what price would you guys dump? is 10x even realistic?
>>
>>1303467
I'd say its very realistic. I'd say a 3x opening is more than likely, and if enough people believe and the devs keep at it, 10x in the next year is extremely likely.
>>
I missed this ICO. Made a bundle on Lisk and I bought into Rise, though.

Maybe I'll buy after the inevitable pump on release.

who do you sue when banks crash the entire economy with no survivors?
>>
>>1301581
>i don't see why business would adopt it over fiat. nor what's stopping banks from creating their own networks for smart contracts
The whole idea behind smart contracts and cryptos is that they aren't in control of one entity. This type of proprietary bank owned blockchain completely defeats the purpose. If you're talking about a private corporate blockchain used only internally then that's something else all together, and would make sense with your idea.

Anyone who can day trade and read charts should sell if it goes 2.5x ico on launch. If you dont understand that shit then just hold long. it'll be bigger than what eth currently is in a year.

Eth might've grown bigger by that point though.

Short of it is this is the biggest thing since eth
