Pic related is my resume, what can I do to improve it? Is there any truth to the oft-recommended tactic of putting certain words on their in font that can't be seen to improve visibility in HR systems?

Looks straight out of the 90s

Also, I would suggest making the headings smaller

they're over-stylized as it is, remove the underlining

those shaded arrow bullet points are what really dates the resume

get rid of typing speed, unless you're applying to secretarial positions

I would also maybe remove the part about computer proficiency -- everyone is these days

in the summary type out 8 as eight

All the jobs I'm applying for request typing speed and some computer savvy has actually been helpful to me in the past.

Any recommendations in terms of selling myself better?

What font would be better?

And I should I be worried about the formatting becoming off when submitting the resume electronically?

just add some clip art and it's good to go

>proficient with microsoft office
>everything left as defaults
>inconsistent line spacing below headers

this is bait
>>
>>1294775

I'd suggest sticking to a seriffed font

>>1294777

Maybe Georgia if you want

also, if it's a PDF that won't happen

but there are some systems that are in place to detect people hiding buzzwords in white on their resume

they turn the entire thing into unformatted text, iirc

It really isn't, sadly. I've never had to make a resume before, so I'm going in blind essentially.

I suggest Open Sans. Export the file as a PDF and everything will stay the way it should.

Listen to this guy's design suggestions.
