I currently don't see any reason it would appreciate in value yet.
ETH was tiny until it had the Homestead update, and in the month(s) prior, it shot up, gained huge attention, and is now doing well.
In short, you need to wait for big news before it will have big movements.

In the long-term, I see it getting close to ETH. However, it won't surpass ETH unless we start seeing people getting on board with LSK and doing shit like the DAO. If that happens, then LSK will go to the moon.
Same thing with Rise. IF we see some innovations, that will also go to the moon.
