/biz/, is there any way for me to turn 120 WPM typing speed into a job?
Everyone tells me I should do it, but it can't possibly be as simple as just typing fast.
What other skills and qualifications do you have? 120 wpm is good but it's not quite career good.
Maybe you could learn keyboard stenography and become a court reporter?

120wpm as well. Just got a job last week typing court transcripts from home. Little over $25 an hour. Not something to do for the rest of your life, but its a job.

Most courts these days don't have stenographers, they have one dude sitting there recording everything then a bunch of people like me typing up the transcripts.
I used to do the recording part at one of the Supreme Courts. One day caught someone using the recorders to eavesdrop on people, when I turned him in turned out he was my boss's boss, they fired me. So now I type the transcripts.
Can't complain it's a cushy job. You have to commit to full time hours is all.

Very few people "hunt and peck" type anymore. Most kids born after 1990 were taught touch typing in grade school and most high school kids type 100+ WPM without even knowing it. Whoever told you to make a career out of typing probably still has bonsai buddy on their computer and can't install their own phone apps.

no they don't wtf are you talking about, I practiced for like a month and barely got over 60 wpm and I'm pretty I'm of the fastest typers I know.
