Hi /biz/, fa/tg/guy here.
Who do you guys consider the greatest businessmen/woman of all time? Not just modern, but of any age.. and any culture.
I'm looking for inspiration in rolling the most greedy, pernicious and oily bastard disguised as a generous but obsequious older priest/merchant. A true believer in "fair trade".
I like Edison, because everyone remembers him as an inventor when really his genius was in marketing and ruthless business tactics. But I'm not cultured when it comes to business.

Currently reading "The Price: The Epic Quest for Oil Money and Power"
Rockefeller's advancements in quality, efficiency and safety are grossly ignored in comparison to the strong armed business and monopoly (80-90% of refining) that people get their panties in a bunch about. For example, kerosene was killing 5k people a year from explosions because of bad product, that name "Standard" meant that you go that you paid for, a pure product that wont blow up. He was the superior bean counter and obsessive about quality, and had foresight (Buying up cheap sour oil from NW Ohio, before tech to take sulfur smell out was invented, when that inevitably was he cashed out BIG)
