Have any of you ever been contacted on linkedin for a job offer by a recruiter or something like that?
How legit is it?

All job offers on linked in are legit.. It's america, not a chinese sweat shop. Sure some jobs are hard, but they are not going to rob you unless you sign your name on something.
Recruiter's job, funnily enough is to recruit.
Your linked in page is essentially a CV, so recruiters will headhunt you instead. I don't see why it wouldn't be legit?
99% off the people that contact me are either scammers or poojets offering me the same job for 50% less pay

Recruiter just wants your detail for their database, unless is a hr guy from a proper company.

Pretty much everyday as a software developer. They're annoying as fuck and a waste of time 99% of the time.
OP, this is literally why they made linkedin and why they actually make money, to make recruiters pay for special access to YOUR resume.

Yes, but it's never led to a face to face, phone call, or real job offer.
>have general $LocalCity or $MetroArea listed on profile
>"recruiters" contact me about jobs in other states or at least 50-60 miles away
keep in mind these same recruiters can see from the details of my profile that I'm not particularly high on the career ladder. Spending a ton of time of money commuting or relocating for low salary isn't much of a gain for me.
I'm convinced at least some of them are just spamming for going through the motions to cover their own ass so it looks like they're trying by contacting people out of market.
