Credit card companies and some employers will consider your score. Get use to using a debit card for the rest of your life

You'll be fine, OP.

A car maybe, for extremely high rates. No, a house is too large of an investment for any legitimate bank to give a loan out to someone with bad credit. I tried to get a 30 year 60K mortgage with a stable job and no credit, and well let's just say I didn't get one.

Any job that has anything to do with money (even things like engineering, since you'll have to keep projects under cost) does a credit check.

Depending on what type of debt, the person/company can take you to civil court to get repayment that way. Which means your wages will be garnished if you ever do decide to get a job.
How much debt are we talking? If it's a few hundred dollars or something, they probably won't bother and just write it off as bad debt. If it's thousands upon thousands, you're not going to get away with it just by hiding in your room and turning off your phone.
Thanks to Jerry Brown, in CA, collections agencies can take money directly from your state tax return.
