why do so many people still do stock trading? it seems so easy to scam and take advantage of the un-informed with insider trading. all it takes is one phone call, and millions can be made ONLY for those whom knew the information. while 99% others suffer.
So be on the race in end of that phone call senpai. Or are you one of those that doesn't even play golf with a senator?

Actually, everyone who was long when a stock rockets wins.
Ditto all those who were short when it tanks.
It's not like "the elites" who "insider trade" have a third direction they go in so that only they make money.

yep. Came to post this. "Insider trading" is meh. Stock manipulation is bad

And what's wrong with this?
According to your description it sounds like you have pretty much a 50/50 chance of the stock you're holding/shorting to skyrocket/fall drastically, earning you big profit.
Also this is why you don't put all your eggs in one basket. - The simplest of rules. The chance that all or even more than a dozen companies consisting of the s&p500 would be caught in a insider trading scandal is unlikely.

They do have a third direction they can go thanks to exotic derivatives.
