WSJ is only necessary for people who work in high finance.

Because it provides market news and information vital to success?

No, its the exact same news as anywhere else. Its necessary because your colleagues and clients will be reading it to "play the part of the Wall Street guy" and they will expect you to be reading the editorials on irrelevant happenings in certain industries. It is a defense tool to keep your image up.
