You're not going to get anything useful out of it and there are plenty of free sources that report on the dame things.

No, its the exact same news as anywhere else. Its necessary because your colleagues and clients will be reading it to "play the part of the Wall Street guy" and they will expect you to be reading the editorials on irrelevant happenings in certain industries. It is a defense tool to keep your image up.
