How likely am I to get busted for insider trading if I'm a low level employee who buys 10 shares today before a press release that I think will cause my company's stock to go up comes out tomorrow?
>>
Idk doesn't your investment bank knownwhere you work or at least how you make money?

I made a bunch of money on a Tesla trade and they held my money forever I was all paranoid they were gonna ask me about insider trading but nope just took like 7 days to clear
>>
Eh, unless those 10 shares are brk-a or something, I doubt it's worth it for anyone to investigate.
>>
>>1230847
Get a friend or family member to do it. Not worth the risk.
>>
>>1230847
You're already dead, kiddo. I just reported you to Kramer.
>>

>low level employee

Nobody will bat an eye.
They won't bat an eye because they don't care, but they won't bat an eye because it won't even raise a flag. Not even make a peep.

Insider trading is for when founders, owners, ceo's, presidents, and other high ranking officers of a company are dealing with thousands of stocks and vital info. Not 10 lousy stocks.

>>1230847
If you aren't making millions nobody cares.

Worked for a BIG company
There were only 2 dozen ppl on the restricted info list. Our internal audit group called every brokerage house check 4-5 names ea quarter bc nothing better to do. I knew a guy who made a killing every announcement but they got him eventually. fired instantly and his wife left him. She was really hot too I wanted to fuck her but she got really rude when I kept calling. w/e bitch.

Just get a friend to do it. They can always say 'yeah, he seemed excited about something and I had a hunch'
>>
>insider trading
>10 shares
>janitor made $150 from some shit he heard while cleaning jizz from underneath a conference room table
>worth law enforcement's time

>>
If you want to make sure you're in the clear, shitpost about the company on this board. Guaranteed no one will suspect a thing.
>>
>>1231070
No kidding. Shill it and your 10 shares will blend right in with all the other 10 share orders coming from robin hood.
>>
>>1231120
Hahaha this is brilliant
But do robinhood threads really get the traffic to cause this?

Swear its just 5-10 unique posters shilling back and forth
>>
Nobody cares about you and your little 5k$ scheme, OP. Go for it.
>>
>>1230847
If it's a press release that was planned and has been put into the public sphere, it's not insider trading
>>
>>1230847
>Hey frank this guy bought 10 whole shares, what do we do for this insider trading?
>Steeve, there are people with millions on insider trading and you want to waste time on this low level scrub?
>>

Time to start worrying, OP.
>>
Why is insider trading illegal? It isn't fraudulent; it's trading based on objectively the best information you can possibly have. Does the SEC want the market to be like a casino?

Exactly how does it hurt other investors?
>>
>>1230869
lmao cheese shit like that cant possibly work
>>

The theory is, is that all information relied upon in trading public listed companies is in the public domain. Therefore publicly listed companies have very high reporting standards, to try and ensure that the information relied upon by the market is numerous and high quality. It is the theory that if there is "perfect" information in that all participants are fully informed then the market is efficient.

Imperfect information, which includes "insider information" represents market inefficiency from which an individual can profit. Therefore from a market efficiency perspective, insider information is bad.

>Exactly how does it hurt other investors?

1. I know company I work out will release earning statements tomorrow which will be well below expectations and plans.

2. I short the hell out of the stock.

3. Uninformed plebs sell it only the next day.

4. Make a shit load of money off plebs.

That is why
>>
>>1233023

You're defrauding the person on the other end of your transaction, as you have access to information which they lack.
>>
>>1230847
give that information to a close friend and give money to friend and he puts money in too. you both profit and friend writes you a check/cash
>>
>>1230847
Unless you work for a financial institution which will often demand you to disclose all your trading accounts (top kek I had another one in Cyprus anyways which they couldn't see).

In that case it's ofc not smart to go for some nice insider trading.
>>
>>1230970
LMAO

I laughed.
>>
>>1230847
Could you get busted on futures?
