That's retarded, why do you think people go to college, to NOT get into the 1 to 2 percent of areas ?
I'd have to say both. Be very proficient in 1 or 2 areas but also know something about other areas. Because in this day and age everything is connected. And if something happens in an area you have no idea you can't protect yourself.
Entrepreneurs are generalists
Employees are specialists
From an investment point of view, you need to know about what you're going into and that knowledge usually does take some time to learn and get experience with.
So, doing a deep dive in one area probably would yield better results in less time than dabbling in a few different things.
Then, when you're decent in one area, you can try a new one.
