you're holding 3x positions for more than a few hours which is a huge mistake and you're holding not only a vix instrument but a leverage vix instrument for more than a few hours which is also a huge mistake. I get that you're trying to trade volatility but if you want to trade longer term (as in days or weeks) there are much smarter and more profitable options.

is there ever a point where the capital gains tax reduction after holding for 1 year will exceed the beta decay?
>>
>>1198349
>I don't pretend to know what I'm doing.
I realize this and I am trying to help. Leveraged ETFs often build their positions through options which suffer from time decay; meaning you are literally losing money just by holding them even if the underlying positions they are trying to track isn't losing money. They are fine for day traders trying to easily trade volatility but are inappropriate for any other trading strategy.
>>
>>1198358

My god, dude, those ETFs are designed for short term trading. They are leveraged (I think) by using options that have to constantly be reset. So when they reset the options theres a decay in the price. Those instruments always go down over time.

Look at the 5 year chart on all of them, they are down 99%. Your not supposed to hold those. You should consult a financial adviser or put your money in index funds.

Serious question though. Look at my YTD, it looks like it may all come back. I'm not sure. This money I can afford to lose its just for fun but if i do break over even again should I immediately begin to deleverage myself or just let it ride?
>>
>>1198335
People always spout this bs. His positions are stupid and he deserves the loss, but you can easily use leveraged etfs long term if you know what you are doing.

My portfolio only consists of 3x leveraged sp500 and 2x leverage uvxy and tvix along with some high yield REITs for situations where I want to sit at a 0 beta portfolio. I buy and sell alot of volatility but it is always in my portfolio for hedging purposes.

Do I sell volatility at a loss alot of the time? Yes, but my sp500 position more than offsets it and the loss is realized so it lowers my taxes. The leveraged decay is nada on the total portfolio at 0 beta.

>>
>>1198376
The triple-leveraged ETFs will eat you alive in a volatile environment even if, on a longer term, the price goes nowhere. If you manage to get to break even, I would recommend that you sell everything and then buying unleveraged mining stocks if you still want to be invested in PM mining.

The above, of course, all depends on how good you are as a trader. At break even, it's entirely possible that the trend is to go even higher and a good trader (which I am not) would hang on for even more gains.

I've been burned by leveraged ETFs in the past and if I were you, I'd be somewhat inclined to start closing out the positions the prevent any further loss. Watch what gold does this week and use it to make a decision. It seems that gold can't break above $1,300 and will chop around, which kills your 3x ETFs.

>>
>>1198482

People on /biz/ bitch about getting burned by leveraged etfs because they hold 3x leveraged COMMODITY FUTURES etfs. you are stupid as fuck if you buy things like uwti and fucking gold. you have triple the roll yield (big loss) because you are investing in futures that isn't there in etfs that are based on spot prices. you are just investing in stupid products.

here's a list of some triple leveraged where most have gone up significantly :

>>
>>1198778

what's your broker ?

how many years of experience you have in trading ?
>>
>>1198253

Penny stocks are risky but just go with the consumer trends and do your research you should be ok. Many of them are in speculation espically lithium, many of them are waiting for a taker over from their drilling results or venture/merge.

It cost alot to start up a production so some a sitting there on lithium deposits hoping some big guys come and take it.

>>1198290
PLS has lots of mums and dad's investors jumping in and since is now part of ASX 300 I know few people who uses their super and choose direct investment and put their money on this.

PLS got high grade lithium and currently sitting in one of the world's largest deposit. They have several MOU at the moment.

From how I see it I don't think America Telsa will be a big customer PLS is probably more focus on Asia, that where the money is. China/Japan/Korea with their EV and also battery storage system.

I won't be holding this long, for me 2 -3 years and that's it. There would probably be over supply or a new technology comes out that can be a threat to the lithium industry.
