You dont chose your credit card.
Your banker does it depending on how much money you have on your account.

I don't know if they have it where you live but I have the scotiabank scene visa, gives you 1 point per 1 dollar spent (anywhere on anything), 1000 points gets you a free Cineplex movie or $10 off at sportchek.
No annual fee and you get 2000 points for signing up, every now and then they do a promotion for 4000. I play beer league hockey so the card is perfect for me
Amex simply cash masterrace

but you might not get it
At least here, different banks will have different requisites for the same card.

I have 4 credit cards
Chase Sapphire and Discover it for 5% back on rotating categories (usually use on Amazon during holiday shopping season)
Amex Blue Cash for 3% back on groceries
Citi Doublecash for 2% back on everything not covered by the above

>Citi Doublecash
that's 1%, not 2%

Discover.
No complaints on the chase freedom card, but i dont spend much
AmEx blue cash preferred was my first. A lot of places don't take it but the 6% grocery cash back is unbelievable, plus 3% gas. Not to mention you can triple your approved limit after 60 day and every 6 months after (I think that's Amex policy). Next one I am eyeing is Chase Sapphire Preferred.

>credit card rewards
yeah uhm what rewards?
credit cards cost more are more intrusive and worse for the merchants (higher transaction fees) which can distort markets.

you got me thinking dude
but in my country i can't find a deal that gives more than 3% on groceries most card gives 1% on all purchase but tops up pretty low meaning there is a yearly limit also.
so it looks and smells like a scam, but if i can get a card no annual fees and use it for groceries in supers and save some money with it i guess that's worth it.
but people say there are risks involved i have to dig into it deeper. i have huge savings so it's unlikely i run out of money but if i slip on some technicality and the bank rips me a new one i will be pissed.
