You're a wizard, Harry. Go to Hogwarts.
>>
>>1180927
Get into a trade. Electrician or HVAC. Work your ass off and live like broke college student until you hit journeyman

You'll be better off than 80% of the people who are going to go to college right out of high school. You'll be better off than most people who graduate and get a degree.
>>
>>1180972
this is good advice. I'm 23 and just now switching gears into a trade. wish I had done it sooner.

Invest as much as you can every month. Live small.
>>
If you OWN a house, car, and have $250,000 in the bank and have an income before 30 years old, consider yourself successful.
>>
>>1180985
yeah i have neither of these yet
>>
<Literally this, and most of the advice Sonny gives in 'A Bronx Tale'.
You can find better company, and you will become like those who are broke/dumb/lazy/negative/violent/beta/pussies, etc

It may take years to realize this.
When I moved out of my childhood neighbourhood to the best area I could afford, despite the extortionate rent and tiny studio, I realized it.
The trouble followed.
The same bullshit seemed to follow me, and I finally realized my associates did not help matters.

Also, in another quote from the same movie - 'they want you to do better, but not better than them'.
If you even get a HINT of jealousy or a snort at your dreams or misfortune,
walk. the. fuck. away.

Next time I moved, I cut all links and gave no details to old friends.
It wasn't easy, and didn't change my life overnight, but it worked wonders.

I'd kill myself because it never gets better or at least do so much drugs you die or something

What a meme.
I have none of those things at 40.
I'm more successful than 80% of people on the planet.

You are only measuring one aspect, one measurable quality. What about health? Mental health too? You could have those things and be miserable and depressed, I. Which case I would argue you are not successful.
Relationship or sex life success?
Social life or hobbies?
Not important to you? Fine.
But if they are, then you are not successful.

I have everything I need, and go where I please, do what I want.
>>
>>1181009
do you have a demanding job?

No shit. You're comparing yourself with africans and asians who make a couple dollars per month. Anyone who's even remotely successful (and by that I mean having a home and food), you're in the world's top 10%.

I am a failing student on welfare in the United States and i'm more successful than 99% of people on the planet because i'm paid in USD

>>1181026
>the third world
>80% of people

Where did you learn mathematics?

It was a fair point, though, and I was going to include that, because my real question was, who are you fucking competing with?

Home and food?
Um, most people living?
Even a mud hut or yurt is a home.
So, if I live in one, and hunt or grow my own food, am I successful?

If you want to include the numbers of my life, and those alone, then I would say I am in the top 5% then.

I was making the point that you could have all that, but be getting cucked on your third divorce, have reckless kids who cause you stress, etc you are just looking at numbers.

What's with he car anyway?

Warren Buffett gets a cab or the subway if in town, like I am.
Patrick Bateman gets a limo or a cab.
Sir Alan Sugar and Tony Robbins get a chopper.
Tony flies himself often, Alan gets flown by a pilot, but loves cycling.
The Majority of London still cycles to work.
John Travolta flies his own jet or airliner.

Like I said, success is personal.

Go to school and/or find a mentor
>>
>>1180927
That age is the time where the best thing to invest in is yourself.

Time spent working on yourself to get a higher paying career has a bigger lifetime payoff when compared to spending that time shilling what few dollars you have in the flavor of the month shitcoin.

Two career rules are make sure you enjoy it and make sure it's skilled work that creates lots of value for an employer. By creating high value you get high remuneration.

Then when you get it, get a living situation while working where you can save as much as what you earn as you can, be frugal.

By earning more and saving more, you meet your financial goals quicker. By meeting those two factors you are guaranteed to become wealthy over time.

Then when you have money, you can start properly investing, start your own business or some other venture, using specialist skills and knowledge you acquired in your career up to that point.

Obviously there's more to success than wealth, but this is what i'd tell myself.

>>1180927
some good advice in this thread...find a mentor, read about successful people and how they think, etc.

read "the millionaire fastlane." the name sucks i know but it's an excellent read. the pdf can be found by searching "the millionaire fastlane pdf", it's the first link that comes up.

lol, that's horrible advice. Video games is the ghetto of programming.
>>
Go into the airforce. Im 23 now and all my friends that went right out of high school have a nice amount of savings and are trained in some sort of trade.
>>
>>1181381
If you enjoy it and are competant enough to even slightly monetise it , just do it.
>>
>>1180927
Before investing money or sweat in anything, talk to someone who failed in it. Learn and profit from others mistakes.

It will be very hard to apply for and get a well paying job when you enter your 50th year of age. Start building passive income or compounding investments now. You can be young and poor. You can't be old and poor.

Watch the company you keep,
Their attitudes and mindset will rub off on you.

Notice how richfags have richfag friends, and poorfags have poorfag friends?

It's not a conspiracy.

Did you cucks read any of this -
>>1181128
Your measure of success is too specific, and all material.
There's plenty of people with homes and cars.
But a crumbling shack or mud hut or bamboo house can be owned by anybody.
So can anybody own a wreck of a car,
So those two are worthless.

$250k?
Why an arbitrary number and not profits, shares, assets, dividends, etc?
I'd rather $50-100k Cashflow a month than $250k, presumably tied up somehow in your 'plan'.

Also, SUCCESS IS PERSONAL -

<< I guess you haven't heard of rich people with few trappings.

>>'Charles “Chuck” Feeney has amassed billions of dollars in wealth. However, he doesn’t own an opulent house, a car or a Rolex. He dresses shabby or comfortably, and wears a $15 Casio watch. He prefers taking cabs, riding the subway, or just walking when he’s in New York. He flies economy, even on international flights. And since the 1980s, he has given away his fortune to humanitarian and educational causes throughout the world. Preferring to give it all away while he is still alive, Feeney wants to better the lives of people around the world in the here and now'.

He still has a couple of million, but he's giving that away too.

Mind you, he HAD all of that at 30.
So, WAS he successful, or IS he successful to you?

My definition of success is mostly doing what you want to do.
I have given away more than I have earned.

Forgot pic.

Also, did you want my numbers?
Approx $4 million by age 35,
But -$5000 at 30.

Current at 38?
Approx $2M,
But $60-80k per month,
$20-40k after expenses.
I gave a lot away, and still do,
And have a lot of outgoings and working capital.

$1.5M would be liquid.
Also, houses and cars are not fucking liquid and can depreciate as well as appreciate, so I rent, hire and lease as much as I can.

no read your stupid post to make yourself feel better about having nothing
>>
Quit dealing with that girl's bullshit and leave her
Don't fall for the engineering meme
Either go to college for comp sci or learn a trade, no other exceptions
Don't spend so much money on cars and projects and save your money better
Don't buy into the relationship hype, women are cunts, but dick down the skanks who want it
Invest, nigger
Don't become an alcoholic

That's what I'd tell the 18 year old me
