Fucking lost half my bank account at the casino a few hours ago. I was playing poker and just suckout after suckout. Eventually I have top pair top kicker and an asshole flops 2 pairs and we stack off and after seeing his cards, I just sit there. I'm full of anger and frustration and I walk out and want to punch something.

Now how the fuck am I supposed to win 1 grand back before tomorrow? Only got 1 grand left in my bank. I feel so hopelessly lost. Help me.

How am I supposed to have bankroll management when the lowest blinds are $1/$2 ? And plus I feel that I am better than most $2/$4 players and it would be a waste of time for me playing anything below 2/4

You're not. Maybe if you find a 9/6 Jacks or Better videopoker machine that lets you play a shitload of hands, and then play not only a shitload, but a bunch of shitloads of hands, you might be able to make it back. Very unlikely though. Good luck. Consider bringing less of your income next time.

Best advice in the thread and OP ignores it. Why am I not surprised.
>>1175643
As long as you realize it's a game and you'll lose in the end in games of chance and you're playing against better players usually in games of "skill". I spend $20 on video games which give me 20 hours of entertainment. OP spent $1000 for the opportunity to give the casino money and now feels like shit about himself. If you spend small amounts and avoid addiction, I agree, but that's unlikely.

>2k in bank account
>>
OP, I'm going to tell you how I made 2k in a casino over a weekend.

I played strictly roulette. I made 5 bets on 6 squares. This means I have a 30/38 percent chance of winning. And when I do, I win the money back plus 20%. Start with 25$ put 5 5$ bets and reinvest your winnings. 3 wins in a row (about a 50% chance) will turn the 25$ into 50$. I usually stop when my 25 turns into 100$. Then I start over at 25. It's a slow way to make money but it's relatively safe. I actually was up 3k but blew 1k of my winnings in blackjack when I was drunk.
>>
>>1175574
This.
I came to laugh at you OP; kill yourself.

I've never had a job and have 2K sitting in the bank right now. I get tuition paid by grants & scholarships and being an RA pays by housing & dining expenses.

The extra grant money is reserved for books/travel which I just download so I use it to buy w/e I want (get ~2.5K/year).

I lost $5700 about 4months ago in one night.

I suggest from now on the mindset you have is to be pessimistic.

Think every cent you take to the casino is already lost, its gone forever, that way if you only lose $500 out of $1000, you walked out with 500 more than you anticipated, this will help you to cut loses I feel and to manage losing better.

I never get angry, if anything I get disappointed in myself for losing or allowing myself to lose like that.

stick to 1/3

never play 1/2 as house commission(10%) goes up 20$ a pot vs 15, meaning you win less.

take it to 2+2 asshole.

As for poker advice. I started a 1/2 challenge with 1k and lost 400 my first session. Added on another 500 and I've just broken over even after 20 hours of play

1. Table select, look for an older average age.
2. Be a nit. Until your rolled for like 20 Buy Ins its gonna be boring, don't try to bluff, dont try to make any plays. This is the consequence for not being rolled properly.
3. In general if the money matters to you so much, you don't make the correct play, this is the biggest problem.
4. Reccomend you lick your wounds and go study more. 2+2 is a good resource.

>>
>>1179110
Seems like you were at a pretty loose table. Tighten up a bit and don't bet/shove as much to limit the pot size which will also even out the variation. Sometimes when playing with amateurs its better to let them act first. The hand where you hit a boat on the flop would be pretty hard to get away from though. Just another reason to try to stay away from hands like 86 off unless you feel like you can make a move which is rare on loose tables.

>>
>>1179118
>he doesn't greentext

>>1179125
I have a standard deviation of .5 for my play. One shouldn't really tighten up on a loose table because you can play roughly 2/3s the size of the opponents range profitably. They should only tighten up if they are a weak player.

Polarizing my range with 1-1 value/bluff combos, especially utg where I'm tightest, helps me get paid off more from that position when I do have strong hands. Most people don't utilize RNG's in their strategies, nor even know about static and mixed strategies. So, they end up thinking I play more combos than I actually do, mistakenly widening their ranges too wide against me.

Terrible play for the a7. He should have raised preflop (if hes going to play ace rag might as well). Then he could have bet the flop hard and pushed on the turn.
