They originally owned brazzers, and then made youporn, which became the pornhub network. Then in 2008 when the market in general crashed, porn companies had low valuations, and they bought a bunch of other ones too.
Of the ten biggest free sites, 8/10 are owned by mindgeek.
So all of the big pay site networks have the same owners as the free site networks.
There's a reason almost every video is 5-7 minutes long.
