The ability to walk away is the ultimate leverage.
When they need you more then you need them that's all there is to it.
Goes for anything. Buying/selling shit, relationships, friends, etc.

Be honest. Be real, don't act like an infomercial spokesperson.
For salary, consider what you deserve and add 10%. then ask for that. Don't be scared. Asking for money is a simple and fair request. You are not there to be their best friend you are there to perform a service for a fair pay rate.
