FAQs
> How is it free?
They invest your unsettled funds after a trade.
It's also pretty basic software.

> When is it coming to my country?
Probably never. They only have plans on an Australian beta ( https://robinhood.com/au/).

> It's been X days, why isn't my account isn't verified yet?
If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.

> Is this the right place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
No, please go to Stocktwits, Plebbit, or one of our many chat groups.

> What's a good penny stock to invest in?
Don't buy penny stocks you cum guzzling mouth breathing retard.

> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.

> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using Yahoo/Google finance or even Stocktwits for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

Pick a biotech stock with an upcoming catalyst (preferably something FDA related or something like a clinical trial) do exstensive research to see if the science is good, then check the companies health. If both line up there is a high chance of a positive catalysts sending the stock to the moon.

Why don't we start a /biz/ stock analyst firm like this?
>anyone who wants to be a part just picks a field to specialise in
>autistically research that field and become extremely knowledgeable about it
>research companies then post the research in the thread or google doc
>every properly researched /biz/ stockpick that's vetted as not a troll post gets added to a "/biz/" index so we can see how we stock picking as a group
>meme's insue as we end up well above the S&P or far far below it

So sixkek posts his biotech research and picks here
I go and get good at say commodity refining companies
post research about them here
someone ads the research and stock picks to a google doc to archive them
now we both get the benefit of diversified knowledge of stocks

now imagine everyone in this thread having an individual speciality and posting about their select field of stocks
or even if they have the same speciality it means you get more research on a field done quicker

>inb4: implying this would work and we'd not just lose money on the shitty amateur stockpicks of neets
that's not really the point we'd all learn something this way and it'd be fun to have some kind of neet dayjob of working for a rinky dink stock analyst firm that consists of anonymous tripfags posting in a thread on a malaysian coconut carving image board.

you'd have to become a namefag so people know that information really is coming from the same source everytime

Anyone here good with options?

Say I buy one call contract at an ask price of .25. I pay 25 dollars for the right to buy 100 shares at whatever the strike price is, correct?

So I would make money if the bid goes over .25 for my contracts?
>>
>>1156125
Stop this fucking meme
>>
>>1156358

You can make money on purchasing options in 2 ways:

Sell the option before the exercise date and earn the new bid price, or
Exercise the option and then sell the stock in the open market

The value of the new bid price in the first choice depends on the underlying stock price. In almost all cases you will do better by selling the option instead of exercising it, since the bid price will include both the intrinsic value (the amount of money you would net if you did option 2) and a "time value" or the $$$ value on the potential of the option to earn even more money.

Short answer: You make money if the stock price in the open market rises above the exercise/strike price. This will raise both the bid/premium, and the intrinsic value of the option.

>>
So how fast does RobinHood allow you to sell after you buy?
I know they don't allow day trading.
>>
>>1156407

It will at open. If you bought earlier today you definitely would have made a few bucks tomorrow, but I doubt you will make anything if you buy at open.
>>
>>1156397
Android emulator.

RobinHood is officially mobile app only for now.

>>1156412
I didn't even get into Robin Hood until after the market closed for the day. I set the limit at a little above the close price so if I don't get to buy it due to an opening price jump there's no loss.
>>
>>1156410
You can sell as fast as you want but you can't use that sweet caysh again for 3 days. I think instant changes that. Easiest way to make money is just ride pump and dumps and cycle through a few grand with stop losses in place just in case. Sign up to a bunch of email lists and listen to podcasts and shit. Or do research like sixskreks said, but if you don't work/have contacts in the industry you want your "research" will be as good as fancy analysis of a coin toss.
>>
>>1156415

Good luck
>>
>>1156419
I'm about to graduate college in a biotech related major and I work in a biotech related company so I hear a lot of the industry babble and I know enough to do OK with the research.

But of course I'm open to diversifying.
>>
>>1156419
T+3 is an SEC rule. Instant might let you buy with borrowed funds, but like all brokers you'll have to wait the 3 days to sell
>>
>>1156429

Correct.

You can still buy with the funds you receive from a sale, but you have to wait 3 days until the original funds have settled until you can sell again.

>>
>>1156444
it's not a real company, it's just us each choosing a field specialise and research stocks in and then collectively pooling the research.

Because like shkreli and sixkek have both said, there's no hope in understanding every type of industry or business type out there. It's best to pick one and specialise in it.

If we make a /biz/ roster of who is researching what we can pool our information together and learn quicker. Even if we all decide to study biotech stocks, we can pool research on companies and effectively cover more companies quicker than doing it all ourselves.

Because whether this happens or not I'm going to do some research and pick a field I'm interested in and start researching stocks in that field in the hope that one day i get really good at it.
And i figured there'd be others on here doing the same.

Because it doesn't work.

Most people on /biz/ have no idea how to properly research a stock & invest. They just play pure speculation.

Those that do are too busy to actually contribute something on a steady basis.

I'm just talking about creating thread culture that may turn into something great. Either by being a surprising success or a colossal and hilarious failure.
No muhsecretclub discord, IRC or email groups.
Just a framework to post research and be tracked by it by the thread.
Hopefully creating a culture of actual analysis and discussion and learning etc.

ok well i'm convinced to at least give it a try. I just came up with the idea moments before i typed it into this thread and i have shit to do now and tomorrow.
So i'm going to make some OP copy pasta, come with a way to track the "analysts" and their research (probably google docs) and then make a thread... some time in the next few days.

so the basic gist of how it will work will be
>How to be an analyst
1. create a name+secure trip
2. pick a field to specialise in
3. go actually do some research on how to best analyse securities in that field
4. research stocks in that field
5. repeat 3 and 4 forever

>How to post
1. using your name+secure trip
2. make a post with the name of the security
3. state whether to buy or sell
4. state the type of analysis you did
5. briefly* (200 characters or less) explain the analysis and how you come to the conclusion to buy or sell (you can use memes to do this)
* you can go into further detail in separate posts if you so wish but a short concise post that follows a strict line by line format will make it easier for me to archive and keep track of them.

i have a friend that has a script he uses to archive progress monday posts on the /vg/ thread /agdg/. I'll get it off him and modify it to archive Analysis Posts.

GBSN. I guess I was exaggerating the huge gains a bit, but it did briefly go significantly higher than the highest point shown in today's graph, then dip back down a minute or so later. I would have made a nicer profit if I had sold then.

This pissed me off less than when I tried to buy GLRI last week but I couldn't because I had made a stupid trade the day before which barely made me any gains and hit my 5 day limit. GLRI then went up about another 30% that day.

Absolutely, please show us the way you do it.

Okay so first thing you need to know is what the fuck the company does
>google, Wikipedia, company website

You can research basic things like: who their ceo is, how long the company has been around, what's in their pipeline, company finicials, cash flow, recent merges/acquisitions, recent share dilution, splits, previous EQ reports, upcoming events.

after you've found a company and you like what you see do some techinical analysis to find a good entry in to the stock. it's important to have a strategy set in your mind and to not drift from it.
>>
>>1157031
why is creg falling so much and why do you expect it to come back up?
>>
>>1157053
What do you look for in your technical analysis, any particular ratios? volatility? etc
>>
>>1157060
I use two moving averages. 10 day and 60 day. When the 10 day breaks the 60 day line it can be a good indication to buy . It depends on a lot of other things as well. I suggest you use stochastic rsi, MACD, fibonaccis, ichimoku clouds, volume, etc to do technical analsysis. Everyone has something that works with their strategy. You just need to find which indicators are for your stock

How good of a feeling do you have about BLRX? My sleeper right now is SYN it's such an up and down stock but if you get it now it's going to jump again at least back to the 3.00-3.50 range
>>
Is NETE gonna chill or is it a oneway to da moon
>>
>>1157212
Fuck SYN, that was my go to for making money back when it hovered around the 2.20 to 2.50 range.
Buy at 2.20, sell at 2.50 4 days later, rinse repeat.
Then one day I bought at 2.20. And it ended up at 1.80.
Then I got out, got back in at 1.30, went down again to 1.25, so I got out. I watched it go down sub a dollar. Couldn't even buy in at the time though.
Can't believe it's actually back up to where it was. I still don't believe that it's a 3.50 dollar stock though, the company just isn't all that good.
>>
>>1157226
You've just got to make sure to put an order on it so if it dips below 2 you sell. No it's not a 3.50 company but it can hit that high for a day or to, just make sure you sell when it does. I've got my order set to sell at 3.20 I made a shit ton on it before it plunged. Bought it cheap and now it's shooting back up
>>
>>1157202
This. I only buy small amounts of these meme stocks. I own 85 GLRI at .34 and 16 MNKD at 1.81. When GLRI gets back in the green, I'll sell some so I can get more MNKD. I feel like MNKD's product is legit and has merit.

The third meme stock I'm holding is 20 shares of HEAR.
