What do you guys expect in the future of the internet?
Could the demand for greater bandwidth cause a place for profits?
What is the the main place those profits could be made?

telecom industries have a stranglehold on the infrastructure so there isn't much you can do
but I do see demand going up, bandwidth requirements are going to be huge as people opt to live in a VR matrix fantasy world instead of a post apocalyptic cyberpunk dystopia

I am sort of trying to look for a place to invest in and trying to determine if it will be worth it. Could the internet be as lucrative as the creation of a intercontinental railway or a gold rush? Steel was important with railway and shovels were important during gold rush. What are the opportunities?
The demand seems pretty legit the question is where to make the money...

Cables? They probably wouldn't buy them from a small timer anyway
And the government owns the wifi bands as far as I know

What about investment opportunities though? I have been thinking fiberoptics for awhile. THe USA needs to improve its networks, China needs more networks in its interior, companies will move their office staff more and more to their homes so they dont have to rent places to work. I am imagining huge opprotunities. I just need to know where to put my money
invest in nuclear/renewable energy, you need electricity to run that whole shit

Oils collapsing. Are you sure that is a good idea? Oil also makes plastics, plastics make fiberoptics and fiberoptics makes wide area networks. Would fiberoptics be a good place to invest?
Lol at this thread. How much money you got OP?

Security for internet-connected objects being integrated into the Internet of Things. Not many people are thinking of putting up virus defenses for their smart fridge, or ensuring they don't become part of a botnet.
The moment someone dies because someone hacked into a common household appliance, that's when it's gonna get a lot of attention. So I'd say get in now.
