Hello /biz/,
I thought about posting in /sci/, but I think you guys might be better suited to help in this situation.
Part of what I'm studying as an undergraduate engineering student is energy systems, and for one of my classes I have to put together a business case. But not just any business case, a massive one. I'll summarize everything:
I have to set up an energy business (i.e. electric utility). I can borrow up to fifty billion dollars (30 year loan @ 3%) from a bank as capital investment & spend it "overnight" to set up the business (like coal plants, nuclear plants, solar farms, power/distribution companies, electricity retailers, etc.). In addition to capital expenses I have to include other costs like fuel, O&M (fixed and variable) for all the systems I "set up", and paying the employees.
The goal is to produce energy for as many customers as I possibly can, and I have to bill my rate payers to receive any money (obviously).
But anyway, that's the problem in a nutshell. Any suggestions on how this can be handled? I've been brainstorming tons but I'm not sure how to tackle this.
