Living in europe gives you more chances play poker online. I live in California so I have a hard time playing since websites like pokerstars are fucking banned. Just learn to get good.
>>
you grind. takes a lot of patience and you have to avoid getting emotionally invested in the waves of running hot and cold.

once it gets legalized in the US, there will be another pleb boom. who knows when that will be though.
>>
How to make money with online poker: run an online poker site.
>>
>>1104429
it's already legalized tho
it's just when pokerstars makes it debut
which is said to be late this year/early next year
>>
>>1104432
There are barely any card rooms with a high amount of players though.
>>
>>1104438
yeah, and some of those are insanely soft.
>>
>>1104422
oh well, that explains why there isn´t any americans online.

how do i get good? i´ve read harrington´s vol. 1 for tournaments. improved my gameplay overall, but i still don´t feel i´m playing good.

I'm a NEET. I have all day every day. Can't find a job anyway, tried for two years+ now.

I can deal with ups and downs easily, as long as I know that it'll mathematically put me in the green. I say easily because I went through a lot of this stuff learning forex/index trading. If I had something more mathematically safe to do (that would also let me just sit at a computer and monitor trading), that would be ideal.

Any help with getting started? This from someone who doesn't know poker. I do have a bachelor's in bullshit (UX) so I can commit to things. Right now I'm learning copywriting to maybe get a few dollaridoos out of that, but something more mechanical like online poker would be very welcome.

I don't mean "check this out, google that". I mean spoon feed me, and the rest of the thread. As long as I can make £10 an hour consistently over say a month (since gambling is tax free), I'd love to.
>>
>>1104447
As someone who is learning poker myself, all i could tell you is that learning the fundamentals and not making mistakes is #1 most important.
>>
>>1104450
but what do i get for spoon feeding you?
>>
>>1104454
yeah that´s like the essence of this book.

how do i learn probability calculation of poker? any streams/channels i should follow?
>>
>>1104458
There are a lot of pokerstars pro players that stream on twitch i believe, such as nanonoko (might have his IGN wrong). They cover micro stakes all the way to 1K NL. I've personally started watching $2 NL streams (which you should do too IMO) in order to master my game til I move up in stakes.
>>
>>1104460
just play live. it's softer than micro stakes online. 200nl playing like 2nl back in 2000. the money is too easy.
>>
>>1104429
this. not sure if the time spent would balance out in the end though.

Assuming you aren't a sociopath, that good feeling of having helped someone that really needed it.

Really though, if you want to mentor in some way where I can live off of it, I'd pay you a commission when it's successful. No shit, as long as could live off of it (move out), I would pay for it with earnings. But that's unlikely, so I guess you will have to make due with the feeling of having helped. You may help others in this thread as well, of course. You could start an online poker advice thread and trip in it, gaining recognition, if that's your thing.

Do you want us all here complaining about shit and being generally unhappy, or do you want to really make a difference in the world? I guess that's what it comes down to, for your motivation. Share and make a difference, or keep it to yourself and die knowing you never made a difference anywhere.

I don't know how much you know. I just know that I need to figure some online business out for my sustenance since I can't find a regular job. Sure, I could get a McJob. But I mean one where they wouldn't find my lifeless legs dangling from the cooling pipes of the walk-in freezer during the lunch break. Poker sounds ideal for that, but I don't know how to get started or how long it would realistically take.

TL;DR Money if you're successful in teaching (and want it), otherwise just the gratification of having helped out your fellow Anon, most of whom have few other prospects avaliable and will be forever grateful

Is there anywhere good that we Americans can gamble online? I'm in alaska and all we have in bingo and pull tabs, don't even have a lottery. I heard online gambling is banned in the u.s but there has to be somewhere besides bitcoin casinos.

How has forex trading gone for you? I'm in the same boat as you neet wise and looked into it but seems too risky to rely on for income. Stock market has been good to me but the gains are slow and I don't have the Capitol for trader account. You made any good gains on forex?

Not sure if that's an endorsement, or mockery. Thanks, and fuck you, I guess?

I live in a european country with sort-of-high living costs, but £10 an hour tax free would suffice as a starting wage, with the possibility of getting better later and/or moving over to trading full time in a few years. I don't think that's an unresonable expectation. I don't care if it's boring, so are the alternatives. At least poker has some resonable growth potential.

>>1104485
Eurofag here, luckily we've got loads of online casinos. Loads and loads. First round of getting into this would just to keep as much of the "bonus" they give you from each casino. Should be able to get resonable amounts out if I just use one of those cards for blackjack (breakeven/keep most of the bonus).

I did well with demo accounts. First real account, 20% drawdown at the moment, stopped trading pretty much. Combination of a dumb move I did (didn't follow rules - had one in place to deal with the exact type of event, didn't follow it, tested it later and it worked fine/would've saved me), and girlfriend trouble/part of a breakup. Breakup stuff hit me pretty hard, so I just didn't feel like doing anything for a few months. Somewhat recovered this christmas though, and I think it's about time I start.

+50% in first three weeks. Retard mistake (stoploss as advised by trading company, instead of my own solution of hedging it with itself) -50% a few weeks later, total of -20%. EUR/USD did fine, loads of trades. GBP/JPY did fine, a bunch of trades. AUD/USD, three trades in total. One loser, one that mitigated some of the loser, and the one entry where I fucked up not following my method. The piece of shit hit an account-level stop I set overnight, turned right around and went straight to where I had aimed for it to go - all the fucking way.

My fault anyway. Always follow your rules, and never trade just because you want to. - Always - follow your rules. Started at 10k (~$1200).

>Implying if you play the odds correctly every time you won't be a profitable poker player anyway
>>
>>1104487
>>1104516
Ran out of space. I guess 50% drawdown from the high point, but I didn't expect any gains. As long as I didn't blow the account, I would be happy. When I do start again, I'll do better because at least now I know what to expect and how to act.

I see it more as something that I'll eventually learn with experience, and that will grow exponentially once I do learn fully (basically, follow your rules under all circumstances). I've strongly considered joining an online trading forum/thing for this as well, where they post possible setups.

>>1104520
I thought this was what "online poker" was? Just some form of odds weighing, pretty much entirely mechanical?
>>
>>1104532
you have to figure out your opponents range to be able to deduce odds and probabilities.

not everyone is capable of doing that 100% correctly.
>>
>>1104520
To create an effective poker bot you would need to be an expert in AI, this shit is not really possible.

There's so many variables it's ridiculous
>>
>>1104450

i'd start with no limit hold em. biggest player pool. easiest to master.

start on the lowest stakes (1 cent, 2 cent - 2.00 roll). don't move up in stakes until you are consistently winning.

your roll should big enough for 20 buy ins at whatever level you are playing. some might find that excessive, but it pretty much ensures you won't bust (yes you can run that badly even if you're skilled).
>>
>>1104450

be forewarned that the style of play on microstakes is pretty fucking nutty. money is so low that people play like madmen, but you can use that to your advantage by waiting for the nuts and then pressing hard.

get a HUD if you want to start analyzing numbers.
>>
>>1104553
If you were playing in person maybe, but online poker is a straight numbers game and coding a bot to toss out odds is elementary shit.
>>
>>1104560
and then they hit full house with 2 low numbers while you went all in with AA

>get a HUD if you want to start analyzing numbers.

what would you recommended?
>>
>>1104600
>To toss out odds

What fucking odds bro.

You don't just calculate the odds of a hand to win and keep it at that

You need to code AI for bluffs, other player strategies, players on tilt playing like shit, understanding raising, etc. It can't really be done
>>
>>1104485
>Is there anywhere good that we Americans can gamble online?

you need to move to a free country that allows you to spend your money as you like
>>
>>1104688
actually you can gamble online if you're located in Nevada
>>
>>1104410

How do you win money at online (gambling)?

Run the system.

Gamblers by and large are either morons or unable to control their urge for 'easy money'.
