can someone explain to me how kanye can be $50 million in debt? or is he just bullshitting on twitter.
>>
>>1102480
>black guy that perpetuates literally every black stereotype
>wondering why he's in debt
>>
Lavish lifestyle probably? I don't really know wtf his spending habits are or who's loaning him money.
>>
>>1102480
He has 50 mill worth of debts. he owns much more than 50 mill in assets

so hes still extremely rich, but I'm pretty sure that it was from a failed business that he kept dumping money into
>>
>>1102486
This
>>
>>1102480

I presume this is a publicity stunt.

But he has access to more money and thus can evoke larger amounts of debt without getting into trouble, necessarily.
>>
He is worth significantly more than $53M. He isn't broke. Imo it is just a publicity stunt to generate publicity for his new album.
>>
>>1102480
He's an idiot that thinks any debt is bad.
He doesn't understand the purpose of a loan.
>>
>>1102480

> What is a balance sheet? What are assets and liabilities? What is cash flow?

You do realize your average mortgage holder is in debt too. In a large city your run of the mill upper middle class dude may be a half a mil or a mil in debt.
>>
>>1102480
he has a new album coming out so he needs his names on everyones lips
>>
>>1102535

Isn't being such an incredibly high amount in debt irresponsible?

Wouldn't it be better for an upper middle class to be like $100,000 in debt tops?
>>
>>1102480

He's leveraged.

It's the same idea as if you bought a $300,000 house.

After your down payment, say you're now $240,000 in debt due to your mortgage.

You still own a house valued at $300,000 though.

Anyone who assumed he is in 53M in personal debt is retarded. No bank on the planet would let you go $53M in the whole to buy a couple of lamborghinis.

Its way more likely that hes chewed through $53M in investments, and this monkey doesn't know the difference between an investment and a debt.

Once you look at what he's been (trying) to do with his "DONDA" company it makes sense - he's probably raised a lot of money to do things like his Fashion Line (Yeezy Season 3 or whatever) and Yeezy shoe line, and neither really panned out.

>Isn't being such an incredibly high amount in debt irresponsible?

>You owe $100 in debt.
>Your cash flow can service $200 in debt.
>There is no problem.

>You owe $100,000 in debt.
>Your cash flow can service $200,000 in debt.
>There is no problem.

>You owe $100 million in debt.
>Your cash flow can service $200 million in debt.
>There is no problem.

These are equivalent.

Debt is only "bad" when it is due to unproductive things. Many companies take out debt to build new production facilities because that allows them to shift the cost forward (for a fee called "interest") and use the new production facility to pay for it's own construction, instead of using past production (cash holdings) to pay for the new facility.

Furthermore, if a government can borrow money for a fraction of a percentage point (like they can now) the actual "cost" of borrowing trillions becomes negligible. This is why trying to balance a national budget during economic stagnation when interest rates are at historic lows is fucking stupid.

>>1102483
He doesn't perpetuate every Black stereotype. He's an extremely hard worker.
>>
>>1102498
This. Everyone is calling Kanye an idiot, but they don't even realize that his name has been in their mouths for almost a month straight. He does with with every album, and people take the bait every time.
>>
>>1102480
He's nigger rich. He spends his money like a moron and married a skank who is even dumber than him. He's also losing fans because people are starting to finally get fed up with him and prefer rappers like kendrick.

Kanye is pretty much /biz/ tier. He'd probably fit in well here.
>>
>>1102710
I love when faggots like you say this. His album had been torn apart and nobody cares about him now that kendrick is big. People are starting to realize he's just your typically dumb nigger.

I knew kanye would fade as soon as lamar started getting main stream attention. Kendrick is the kanye killer.
>>
>>1102722
Let me guess, eminem is you favorite rapper?

Not a fan by any means, but any person with half a brain can tell he's doing it to gain publicity for his album. Rappers fake beef all the time to promote their newest project. Where the fuck have you been?
>>
>>1102729
Naw, I don't listen to any rap at all. I just think people give kanye credit for being this brilliant mad man but I honestly don't think he's playing games. I think the guy needs professional help. People are going to keep making excuses for him until he's too far gone to help. Seriously, I got to meet him when he came into my work and the guy would go from talking like a lispy homosexual to an urban thug within seconds and it kept switching.

Dudes off his rocker big time.
>>
kanye: hey everybody lets have some attention on me, i need your attention.
kanye: look at me i got hooked up with kim, you remember kim from her sex tape right ? now im relevant.
kanye: hey i need more attention because i think i am special
kanye: check out my new stupid shitty album that everyone should get.
kanye: hey this life is all about me and everyone in it is fake.
well fuck him and fuck you for posting about him.
does the king care about what happens to the clown ? nor should anyone care if kanye is in debt or if he wants to get a sex change.
>>
>>1102654
pathetic that this even needed explaining to the other anon
>>
>>1102732
To be fair, the guy has always had a bloated ego. It's just that during the early years in his career he'd chant about how great he is and everyone would go "Aww, that's nice Kanye". It wasn't until his incident with Taylor Swift that people saw Kanye for the asshole he really is.

Truth be told, I'm surprised he even made it this far. The dude calls himself the greatest, but it's as clear as day that this guy dickrides Jay Z all the way to the market.
>>
>>1102483
This sums it up and the thread can be closed.
>>
>>1102483
wow lad
>>
>>1102480
He sank a lot of money into fashion industry pursuits and lost, the only thing that worked was his deal with Adidas.

>>1102498
Exactly. Each of the concerts on his last tour netted $1m, he'll be fine.
>>
>>1102654
Basically this.

I would only add that some people prefer steady payments than the uncertainty of the market.

For example I took a loan out to buy stock. The stock dividend just about covers all the interest, so I any stock price appreciation is basically all mine, because someone else wanted a constant payment and low risk.
>>
>>1102480
Like most rappers, athletes, most of which are everyday person gaining wealth quickly they don't know how to handle large sums of money. They pretty much spend more than they need to and too quickly compared to their income.
The sad (and sort of funny part) is a lot of guys like Kanye have financial advisers that try to help them not get in big debt but if you've ever dealt with a rich asshole you know trying to tell them the right thing to do is impossible.
Publicity stunt or not I don't doubt he has that much or more in debt. And all the rest of his money probably isn't accessible to him because as someone said he's been apart of some dumb investments. When Kim Kardashian divorces him he'll probably be hurting more than the $50 Mil. is hurting him now.
>>
Him being in debt is like you being in debt for -$500 so you can make $1,000

he had to use his own money to push his Yeezy products/tour merch he's going to get all of it back and then some
>>
>>1102480
The fashion business.
>>
>>1102480
he got his dick sucked 50 million times by /biz/ users
>>
>>1103649
Top lel
>>
>>1103613
You are right.
Jay Z for example made more than $500 mil on 1 tour he made with Beyoncé. Kanye could just borrow some with his friend if needed.
>>
>>1102722

Kanye> Kendrick cut it out. Sick of white people doing all kinds of mental tricks to paint Kanye as untalented.

Life of Pablo> Any Kendrick Lamar album. Kendrick will never make a MBDTF, Kendrick will never make a Graduation or College Dropout.
>>
>>1103876

He needs to consult a naming specialist for the name of that album, though. I'd rather listen to some DMX.
>>
>>1102480
He can easily pay off 50 mil in debt

Why is it being publicized? Media, attention, more influence in pop culture. Promotion of TLOP.
>>
>>1102480
My understanding that is that it required 50m for him to advance to his current career-position now, and not actually in debt. If that's not the case, then my likely bet are his failing investments-businesses, and bad real estate choices.
>>
He tells you in his lyrics on "clique"
>...You know white people get money don’t spend it Or maybe they get money, buy a business I rather buy 80 gold chains and go ig’nant
I know Spike Lee gon' kill me but let me finish Blame it on the pigment, we living no limits
>>
He just has to go on tour and all his debt is gone

He has so many business ventures like DONDA, adidas x kanye west and has one of the biggest brand labels, G.O.O.D Music

It was probably expensive hiring all the designers needed to make his yeezy label and he poured alot of money on DONDA

Also he has a big mortgage with his new house he's building
>>
>>1102480
>be rich but have no knowledge of personal finance
>hire a money manager
>ask money manager if you can spend stupid amounts of money
>money manager says no
>get angry because you're an egotistical celebrity
>fire money manager and get a new one
>continue replacing money managers until you find one who always says yes to lavish spending
>money manager finances your lavish spending through debt
>get older and want to know a bit more about your own finances
>turns out you're $53 million in debt because you were spending ridiculous amounts and nobody stopped you
>get sad

I assume that's how it happened.

kek.. you have clearly never been in touch with Jewish lenders or jews in general.. They will overload people like that with money and squeeze him like a lemon afterwards..

probably because he has it set up as a shell business, he doesn't owe it directly under his name. started a business/llc. business might of had a lot of his money invested in it, but his real wealth is separate from that.
>>
and here is your answer:

http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/02/kanye-west-53-million-dollar-debt-explained

He was chewed up and spit out for his attempt at a high-end women’s-wear line called Kanye West in 2011. The line never made it to stores. According to a 2013 interview with Jean Touitou, the founder of the French line A.P.C., which created capsule collections with West, the experiment put the rapper out $30 million.
