I have like 40K or so sitting in cash. I don't want to lose it if we were to go into depression, but I want high long term growth.
I was thinking about doing something like the four fund portfolio.through Vanguard.
40% US
30% int-exUS
20% bond index
10% real estate
and then just re-balance as necessary.
However, I don't want to be 70% equities if we go into a recession, that'd be fucked.
What do?
edit: meant to say recession in first line

you dont wanna be in equities because we "could go into a recession" but you don't want to sit on cash make up your god damn mind

>What do?
Stop being afraid and just do 20% bonds.
Three fund, not four.
Don't invest because Wall Street is bad and wants to take away all of your money.
That being said, your money is better off being invested in oogabooga cryptocurrencies.
How much is in your emergency fund?
It you're worried about a recession, then bump your emergency fund up to 2 years.
Then you can play with the rest completely worry free

I don't have one necessarily. I own a business with little cash requirements and high cash flow.
Also, very little personal expenses.
