How did the Americans manage to build so many in a short period of time?
How much did they lose?

Especially since at this time oil was low during building up the wells.
They became the number 1 producer in a short period.

Exxon Mobil for example has made $400 billion profit in the las ten years. For the industry its in the trillions. This is a blip just like the 80s price crash
