How hard is it to get away with faking a college degree?

I'm in my second year of college, but I know that I have access to better quality information for free online and at my local library.

I'm guessing it's extremely simple for an employer to check if you're BS'ing, but do they really do these checks? Don't most employers use college graduated from and the GPA to weed out potentials?

I really see little reason for paying out the ass for an education that I can receive for free at the local library, other than showing the employer that I can take on stressful situations.

Has anyone on /biz/ faked their education just so they could get their foot in the door and not be up to their eyeballs in debt?

Yes, they do those checks. In some states it's illegal to lie about your education status on a resume, in other states it's illegal to do so on job applications.

It's extremely easy to lie about education. Most non-stem degrees teach you next to nothing you couldn't pick up to a conversational level by browsing a subreddit on the topic or something. But its also so easy to check now that every employer that you would want to work for will check up on it, and they will fire and blackball when you get caught. Just do the fucking degree even though its a meme its something you have to do these days unless you are a code god or already made of money and connections.
