Is a software focused comp. eng. worth it for someone who doesn't find tech inherently fascinating? I think the computers and the Internet are powerful tools that can do a lot of good but at the same time I'm kind off fed up with the constant 24/7 distractions they present. Programming is interesting but only when applied to great and important things. I can't seem to identify as "an engineer" but the non-tech alternatives seems weak as everything's becoming more tech-oriented.
I guess my question is; do these skills transfer to "softer fields" such as business, entrepreneurship etc. or am I doomed to work with computers my entire life?
