I've developed a 3D printed plastic part that fixes a common issue for certain cars at a much cheaper price than the dealership alternative.

I'm sure people will want to use it, but how should I go about marketing it?

So far I've decided I'm going to post a tutorial on Youtube demonstrating how to DIY it, using my product rather than the OEM part. It's a simple fix that almost anyone could do.

Other than that I thought about maybe shilling for it on some automotive forums.

Thanks in advance

Can you be more specific? I'm just curious.

I mean, almost anything is cheaper than the dealership alternative. This is why auto parts stores exist! When I read about your 3D printed part I started thinking of at least a hundred car parts!

Its not out yet, and would be really easy to steal. I don't think it really matters what it is. Just a small plastic component that works in the electrical system.

Whay benefit does it bring the person who installs this plastic product? I get that its 'yop secret' or whatever but marketers cant help you without knowinh what it does.

we get is cheaper than standard but this doesn't make it better. If it affects newer cars, its not going to pick up if the vast majority of population with new cars go 'oh fuck better get it serviced', the cost of this part will be irrelevant if it is mixed in with the 6 other things dealerships charge owners for when doing repairs.

You might be better off focusing your marketing on increasing distribution it to unaffiliated mechanics & building support amongat gearheads. The former can help your future distribution plans and the latter can legitimise your product to future purchasers outside of this marke segment (as gearheads are defacto experts on cars)

Terrible idea. If it really works then definitely try selling it to a company, not to consumers.

Also patent it asap. It's worthless without a patent, if it isn't worthless already (as an engineer who works for a big car manufacturer i honestly can't imagine that what you build actually satisfies the requirements for durability etc while also being cheaper. I really really doubt it)
