Why would I be better off investing my first stocks with a brokerage

Why would I be better off investing my first stocks with a brokerage like E-Trade rather than my own bank, Wells Fargo?

Serious question, I don't understand why one is better than the other. Will someone explain?

It really just comes down to commissions and ease of use.
Can you access the market as easily as E-trade with WF's website?
Who will charge you more to place trades?
