Is gold or silver the better buy right now, /biz/antines? I have almost $1000 that I want to invest in one or the other, possibly a couple of pic related. Would be holding on to them for years, not looking to speculate. Which metal is the better buy right now, and why?
>>
I bought 10 oz of silver recently from NWT Mint just because I thought it would be cool to hold an 'investment' in my hands.
>>

Gold has a stable price. Silver may move more. Look up their historic prices and pick whichever. I'd expect both to spike up if they do move suddenly. Keep an eye on oil - if that becomes stable both will move down.
>>
>>1071617
which ones lower now, tho?
>>
>>1071604

Silver has the greater volatility, i.e you could make proportionately more money on silver than gold.

Buy a silver Eagle for say, $17, a Gold Eagle for $1,100. Some shit happens in the market, your silver Eagle is now worth $35, your gold Eagle $1,700.

Doubled your investment on the silver. Gold went up by about a third.

In terms of sheer money made, Gold won; you made $600. In terms of investment-to-return ratio, silver won.

I'd put it in silver because volatility, pretty much this >>1071795. If you're hellbent on gold buy at least a whole ounce, you'll get cucked on the over spot price for 1/2 or 1/4 ounces or anything fractional. God forbid you want to buy grams.

Just bought 10 oz silver yesterday here

so youre saying if I spent $1100 on silver, id probably gain more than $1100 in gold?
>>
Do you guys have a website that keeps track of the prices and market values?
>>
>>1072364
All of them? wsj, any stock exchange, most currancy exchanges, plenty of news sites.

Literally I can't think of any sites where it might be useful that don't track these things.

you're right, we do. Have fun with your baseless paper currency and intangible stock market
>>
>>1071604
Comparatively and historically speaking, silver. At least right now.
>>
>>1073672
Someone doesn't understand monetary economics.

You don't buy silver and gold to get rich. You buy it to store wealth while everyone else is getting BTFO.

Physical coins make lousy investments, you are going to incur costs with shipping, storage, risk of theft, and of course the hassle of selling them at the end.

Unless your going this route for a doomsday scenario it makes no sense.
>>
>>1074816
This is not always true

do your research some coins hold value very well

>Morgan Dollars
>Key Date American Silver Eagles
>Australian Perth Silver

There are other reasons why they're currently undervalued or could increase in price besides hedging against devaluation/inflation.

Both Gold and Silver are still overvalued. Buy at $900 and $9-$10 respectively.

Don't think it can happen? Look at the price declines in oil.
>>
>>1075898
