Hey /biz/, beginner here.

Can someone explain me this picture? What the hell caused this drop? Do you think this stock is fit for buy-hold?

Your mom's fat ass did

Common sense made it drop, and common sense will keep it down.

>going long on leveraged ETFs

Jesus tittyfucking Christ...

Firstly not a stock (this is an ETF).. look it up.

Secondly leveraged so higher risk.

Thirdly, if you're taking positions in this, you should probably have a background in Economics at a minimum. This is a somewhat macro play.

You're better off learning how to analyse individual stocks (balance sheets, cash flow statements, press releases etc.) and then constructing a diversified portfolio.

How fucking stupid do you have to be to ask that shit
>>

It's a leveraged ETF derived from the price of Crude Oil, which has collapsed due to over-supply thanks to Saudi&Iran.

Econ 101. Too much supply + not enough demand = Price drop.

The Saudis are trying to kill competition by making it unprofitable for everyone else to produce their own oil instead of buying theirs.

>implying you cant make mad money going long on leveraged ETFs
>implying if you bought 10k shares of UPRO in '09 that it wouldnt be worth ~90k right now

nothing wrong with going long on bullish leveraged ETFs that are in a somewhat safe field. reason i say somewhat safe is because all investments are a risk.

this

in my opinion this is going to be unsustainable, basically dependent on how much oil the Saudi's have left
>>
>>1070404
Enjoy your high variance gambles.
>>
>>1070404
Look up "decay in leveraged ETFs" OP. It is not designed to be held overnight
>>

You're a complete tard.

I wouldn't call Oil somewhat safe ever, less so this half-decade. But the real problem is this isn't a fund for newbs to play with.
>>
>>1072087
you guys have no idea what youre talking about, the amount of shale oil the US can produce and dump on the markets is mind boggling
>>
>>1072064
If by somewhat safe you mean absolutely no volatility and nothing but a strong, constant upward march, then sure.

If that's not what you meant, stop giving advice and pretending you know what you're talking about.
