I'm in a bit of predicament /biz/ here it is
>19 years old
>graduated high school last June
>in community college now (lel)
>selling on Amazon has been my source of income since 15
>Make good money, more than enough for my wants, 5000 in savings
>Have car, pay for insurance, gas, own food, etc still live with parents
>Don't make enough to live on my own, less than 20k a year
>Literally 0 job experience because I never needed a job for money
Am I fucking myself by not getting a job? Will having 0 employment experience hurt me so much in my career field? Anyone experience a similar situation? Also, should I put my online selling on my resume?
>>
>>1068045
>Will having 0 employment experience hurt me so much in my career field
you're 19....
>>
How do you make so much selling on amazon?
>>
>>1068045
I had no job experience at all coming out of college.

>bum fuck lazy and didn't do internships

ended up applying to ~300 places in the area and got a job on the first in person interview.

just takes a little bit of effort
>>
>>1068048
You'd be surprised how many people had in high school these days. I was in the minority NOT having one. Kids are pretty aggressive these days over jobs. And moreover I meant when I'm 21 or 22 and want to start a career, having 0 experience is a red flag, yes?
>>
>>1068055
Fast food jobs don't count. Any job you can get with no degree before you graduate college most likely won't end up on your resume anyways. Volunteer work or internships would, however. All in all I wouldn't worry about experience before you graduate. Companies that recruit employees fresh out of college expect you to have no experience.

You're 19. nobody expects any experience for you

Im soon 30, i have pretty much zero work experience and it's not a problem for me when applying. Just make some shit up in your cv and know where to apply.
>>
>>1068061
This. If you graduated from college and you have jobs that require no degree than the jobs you're applying to won't care about those jobs. In essence you never had a job before. These days they don't expect a lot of experience from millennials because their parents fucked them over by not retiring and leaving jobs for the younger and middle age generations.
>>
>>1068066
but you are a NEET
>>
>>1068066
>30
>pretty much zero work experience
>not a problem for me when applying
I'm confused. If you have no work experience, how have you had success applying?
>>
>>1068045
Not sure about where you live, but in Aus it's really an uphill battle getting a job after you've turned 18 if you have no experience and don't have a mate/relative to hook you up. It's generally expected you have a casual job or have at least done some volunteering by the time you're 19. That said, it's doable if you have extra-curricular shit that you did in high school to put on your resume.
>>
>>1068045
Whi is this jizz djinn
>>
>>1068107

He is like all NEETs- they are poor now, but in 5 years they will be RICH

Because it's so EASY to become RICH!

So they can act and posture like they are RICH today, because in 5 years, they will be RICH!

The reality is they will never be anything other than parasites,

The only hope of the neet to not starve to death is that the host will provide resources for longer than their lifespan
>>
>>1068119
I wonder what the future will look like when all the LoL/WoW-playing NEETs grow up and they're 35-45 years old with dead parents, cut government benefits and no way to survive.

Will we just see countless obese neckbeards serving us food and such?
>>
>>1068045
that kid in the background...
such a bonerkill
>>
>>1068125

>serving us food

I doubt it.

Given a choice bewteen a 17 year old with no work experience, and a 40 year old with no work experience, I will hire the 17 year old.

Ideally, I'd like to see them starve to death in the gutter.

Plus, they're neets now because they're lazy. I don't want to hire lazy people- I will hire the 17 year old, maybe he is lazy, if he is, fire him, hire a 17 year old with some work ethic
>>
>>1068131
Ok but I mean they clearly will need to survive somehow.

I wonder what it would look like.
>>
>>1068136

What do you mean?

Their parents die, they inherit some money. Maybe 100k$.

That 100k$ is gone in 5 years- maybe less.

Then, they can't pay for food, can't pay for electricity, have to sell their gaming PC.

Etc. The money is gone- they are evicted by the landlord.

Or they can't pay the property tax on their inherited house- so they are evicted.

They starve to death in the street. I've been homeless- it's not an easy life. They will never make it.

You have to be willing to fight with pigeons over bread that tourists throw at them. It's not dignified, and it's NOT easy.

There are lots of little things about being homeless that these neets won't know- like you NEVER sleep with your sleeping bag zipped up, no matter how cold it is.

YOU ALWAYS sleep with your shoes on.

You keep your change, money, and knife in a little bag around your neck.

You tuck that bag into a sweater pocket, one of your layers, so no one can see the bag around your neck- it just looks like im wearing 2 shirts.
>>
>>1068155
>There are lots of little things about being homeless that these neets won't know- like you NEVER sleep with your sleeping bag zipped up, no matter how cold it is.

Why?

>What do you mean?
I just think it would be funny to see all these fat neckbeards competing for mcdonalds positions or being homeless. I can only imagine an anime neckbeard NEET begging for change
>>
im in the same boat OP sold drugs from ages 12-19 and have two felonys.
I own a couple rental propertys and never worked until i turned 23 which is for my dad and it's construction.

I make about 40-50k a year but i would like to have a job that doesn't involve working for my dad

25 years old worth about 300-350k but will probably never be able to get a job because all i have for work experience is working for my dad and property management.
>>
>>1068045
How do you sell stuff on Amazon?
>>
>>1068162

Because if someone tries to rape you, stab you, kill you, and you're zipped up in the sleeping bag- you're dead.

You need to be able to wake up and run .1 seconds later- you don't have the luxery to unzip your bag- by that time, you are raped or dead.

No one teaches you this stuff. You need to learn it. This is not taught in school, in books, the streets teach you this.

They also never tell you that if you don't regularly wash your feet, you will die.

They never tell you that you cauterize any wound with a lighter, even the small ones.

I've seen 250LB men reduced to death's door by tiny scratches because they didn't want to burn the sucker with a lighter
>>
>>1068162

Being homeless isn't funny
>>
>>1068244
>have to cauterize scratches
I don't understand why homeless people can't stay clean. There are literally dozens of homeless shelters in every city. Also, you can get a gym membership for pretty cheap where you can take showers. This is a necessity otherwise you won't ever be able to get out of your situation (like finding a random labor job). People don't hire filthy mcnasties, even for bottom of the barrel positions.

Are homeless people subhuman?

I've wanted for a while now to fill up a 2liter bottle with my urine and pour it all over them everytime i see some worthless cockroaches sitting around begging for change like the subhumans they are.
>>
>>1068128
There's a kid in the background? All I saw was boobs. Oh there's the kid. She's carrying around her trophy
>>
>>1068254

It's very hard to stay clean when you are homeless.

>homeless shelters in every city.

Not as easy as you think.

If you go into the homless shelter, you have to stay from friday morning to monday morning- etc.

They won't let you leave. If you demand to leave, they will blacklist you.

I got blacklisted because I slept, ate, and wanted to go back outside, to try to find work.

>gym membership

How do you get to the gym? Walking around costs time and calories.

Walking 5 miles to the gym just to shower, you lose an hour of time, maybe 2 hours, and hundreds of valuable calories.

>People don't hire filthy for labor

Wrong. If you tell them you will labor harder than anyone else for $5 an hour in cash, they will feel bad for you, and hire you.

If you impress them, they will hire you the next day, and you save up the money to NOT be homeless. 12 hours a day, $60 a day, free food- you save the money to not be homless over time.

You will save up $500 over time, and get stabbed, robbed, it happens.
>>
>>1068257

Homeless that don't work are trash, scum.

Homeless like me that work aren't homeless for long.
>>
>>1068254

Also, yes you have to stay from friday to monday, and they close on monday and open up on friday.

Where do you sleep the other 5 days?
>>
>>1068284
Sounds pretty bad, bro. Do you live in a third world country?
>>
>>1068045

Write on your resume you ran your own online reselling business that was successful enough to allow you the freedom to study while in college.

Employers want someone who created their own business or someone who ask'd what kind of bread they want at Subway?
>>
>>1068296

I'm not homeless now. And for the record, USA.

I was homeless 17-18, for 9 months after my father died.

I have a very comfortable life now. Own my own house. Own bonds, own ETFs, own a car, married, kids.
>>
>>1068061
This is bullshit. Companies expect you to work a crappy job in college to get work experience. They want you to appreciate your job opportunity, and more importantly your new boss doesn't want to be your first boss. They want to know you wont sperg out on them when they give you an order or make you stay after, and that you can get along with co-workers.

People don't understand how bad of a rap millennials have with the previous generation. They think any nerdy guy is a ticking time bomb waiting to shoot up the place. They also assume you are incredibly lazy, and having a recommendation from your previous job is necessary to counter that.

Furthermore, since the job market is so awful they can afford to be picky as hell. Why would they take as risk hiring someone with a degree but no job experience when they can hire someone with a degree, job experience, volunteer experience, AND internship experience? Anyone who tells you otherwise is just delusional about their future.
>>
>>1068325
how old are you now?
>>
>>1068591

26. 8 years ago I was living under a box.

That's why I love this country. Anyone can make a life for themselves if they are willing to work.

For $5 you can buy an entire chicken- feed yourself for 3 days- and eat MEAT, for $1.50 a day.

The greatest country in the world.
>>

>run a moderately successful part time business for 4+ years

You just don't know how to sell yourself. And I don't mean "bullshit" about yourself. You have done things that could impress people looking to employ you. You're not running a prestigious little start up, but your running a small time business. However, I would have actual documents and information to back it up. Make a Profit and Loss statement (easy with Quickbooks). Screenshot your name/sales as an example, and make sure they can search for your business and find you. You've done far more useful things than flipping pizzas, and even pizza flippers can learn how to market their skills (cash register, inventory, reliability, etc.). You can certainly do that with an amazon business. So, take a business class that emphasizes interview/resume process (don't know what your community college will call it, but every cc has one of those classes). You'll learn just how marketable you can make your part time business that you run into a positive representation of yourself.
>inb4 you sell dildos and can't trot that shit out in an interview
>>

who are you going to vote for?
>>
>>1068613

Rand Paul.

He won't win the nomination, I'll write his name on the ballet anyways.
>>
>>1068633
We would get along well, anon.
>>
>>1068720

I'm very disappointed with candidates this year.

Bernie is an insane old man with no idea how the world works.

Trump is an insane old man who only cares about himself.

Hillary is a liar and a thief that only cares about herself.

So who do you vote for?

I expect most of the republic party to stay home on voting day, just because they don't want to vote for trump, so will have 4 years of Hilary/Bernie- what a nightmare.

If I recall, about 20% of republicans who don't support Trump are willing to vote for Trump in the event that he wins the nomination.

as far as resumes are concerned, they only care about what skills will contribute to the job you are applying for.

flipping burgers will only apply to a fast food job and so on
>>
>>1068045
I wouldn't expect it to hurt much, if you can demonstrate that you're industrious. What might hurt you is not having connections. volunteering/networking can help there.
>>
>>1068125
What i don't understand is why these people don't just get a job in the gaming industry and work there way up
>>

>For $5 you can buy an entire chicken- feed yourself for 3 days- and eat MEAT, for $1.50 a day.

Yea you definitely can't do that in any other country except the oh so great US.

If you lived in a more civilized country like Germany you would have received enough help to live under a (shitty) roof and feed yourself.

Stop looking at the world with your patriotism glasses on.
>>
you americans are a strange tribe.
>>
>>1070056
yeah germany is so awesome, they even have politician demanding to shoot refugees, superawesome civilized.
>>
>>1070056

Lol?

Germany, I have to give my hard earned money to lazy deadbeat homeless people- no thanks.

Keep in mind this is coming from someone that USED TO BE HOMELESS

USA, I KEEP MY MONEY.

If I was in some socialist shithole I would never be as rich as I am today.

Even when I was homeless I laughed at the people spouting marxist ideology- they were all the same.

Homeless people that didn't work, spent the money they made begging for change on drugs, then talk about how 'the man keeps me down' and the 'rich control the means of production'

Pathetic, just kill yourself, clean up the streets
>>
I'm 23 with almost one year of experience in software development.
Still many, many years until i get a degree.
How am I compared with a 1rst world country?
>>
>>1068291
How do you get a job when a lot of employers won't accept people with PO boxes or lives out of a non-trailer car?
>>
>>1070099
Well, we don't have to take money from other countries to earn a decent living, so we don't need degrees for programming fields. It's all in the portfolio.

Chances are that your country is absolutely full of programmers because that's the only way to get 1st world dollars.
>>
>>1070129
I want a degree to aim a directive charge in a distant future / start my own business.
In the meantime I need to aim for a manager position and the only way for someone like me is being a technical leader (thus, having good experience by the 27-30 compared to people my own age).
>We don't have to take money from other countries
>1st world country
Where are you from?

Brother in Law has a cousin that went to a community college for IT. Got a job at the community college as their sharepoint admin. He did that for a few years then got a job in Kansaa City for a big bank being their sharepoint admin.

Months later his cousin posted on facebook that he found out he is gay and that girls just hanged out with him in college because they thought he was gay.

Not gonna read all 50 replies so sorry if someone has said the same thing but:

Your Amazon sales are 100x better experience than anything your peers did. Just make sure there's actual proof of your successes. I would set up a website + get more of an online presence in general if you haven't already. It'll look good to future employers and most likely boost sales.

I worked online from 14 years old to 18, made multiple tens of thousands, but most of it was either unethical, or something that I have no proof/real record of (aside from paypal/bank transactions.) So now I'm just left with my skills, but no way to prove that I have them.
>>
>>1068048
I'm 20 and I'm an intern doing corporate tax.

How do you get money by working online? Or with amazon? I don't get it...

>Homeless people that didn't work, spent the money they made begging for change on drugs, then talk about how 'the man keeps me down' and the 'rich control the means of production'

Really?

Homeless people are smart enough to use terms like 'means of production'?
>>
>>1070951
Marxist homeless are common enough, in my personal experience. Crusty gutter punks who "don't have any money", but still all manage to dress the same and own a dog. They might live in a collective sometimes, stealing food from the trash behind a grocery store. Until there is a personality clash that gets them kicked out on the street again. They are usually runaways and I've never met an old one. (Old commune hippies are probably what they turn into.)

Other groups I've met a lot of, homeless day labor guys and the longterm homeless schizophrenics (which includes the only truly homeless females I've ever met.)
>>
>>1068045
You do have a job you sell shit on amazon just put down that your the CEO of an import export company you silly Jew
>>
>>1068045
You're missing the forest for the trees. You should be doing something productive and professional with your time. The resume will come if you maximize your productivity. Think about how you spend your week right now, do you have time to take on a job? When I was 19 the answer was no, and that was okay because I was in an intense academic program. Generally I'd say if you could spend half a day or more a week in bed (not counting normal sleep) and still meet all your obligations you're not doing enough.
