Ok, I have heard about this for the last month now
and people seem to be getting completely "hyped" over it, at least here in Germany.
But, after all, what's the difference?
This so called "industrial revolution" is already happening and nothing companies can prepare for anymore. It's already too late, yet I still see on every site "Yes, we are very prepared for industry 4.0".

I may be late here and it was already discussed quite a lot, but I never saw a thread about it.

So, what is all this bullshit actually about?

It's just a meme.
Never heard if it here in the USA, but I assume they just mean automating more things. It's only a threat if you have a worthless skill set. For everyone else it just means your job is going to get easier.

It really looks kinda outdated now, even

I'm also in the US. Never heard of this specifically. Have heard of similar concepts regarding automation etc.

Seems like a meme, but one based on realistic assumptions about the trend of tech/robotics etc.

In all actuality the loss of jobs will be somewhat balanced out by the lowered cost of goods, assuming the people who run the automated processes don't price gouge too much (competition will probably limit this) New jobs will arise to maintain automated systems etc.

Imo people are way too paranoid about it. We'll see a huge quality of life improvement that'll be apparent way faster than in/after the industrial revolution

regarding that wiki article: "create a virtual copy of the physical world " lol this is still a long ways away. Too optimistic about the implementation of such a large scale thing.
