Anybody have a job at the federal level through USAJobs?

Is GS05 level basically bachelors degree/no experience? Should I put down unrelated labour experience on my resume?

Trying to figure out what the hell im doing wrong to not have at least a soulless desk job with my non-stem degree.

If you are not a vet or military spouse, I wouldn't bother. Also, you want to start as high up as GS as you can becuase you CAB only move up 2 levels each year. But I've known E4 in the Army go to GS -12 positions in IT so aim higher.

If you want a federal job and don't have prior experience doing something that qualifies you for a higher grade, start at the level offered. GS-5/7 or whatever.

What job is it? Yes, you will probably have a desk job. Working for the federal government will open your eyes to a reality that defies logic.

OP, GS-05 is pretty much equivalent to a bachelor's with mediocre grades, while a GS-07 is for new graduates with at least a 3.5 I believe. Look up the Pathways program on USAJobs, it's open right now.

I work for the government as an engineer, started as a GS-07 and should end up as a GS-13 equivalent after a total of about 5 years.

It depends on the job.
GS-04 and 05 can both be 1 year of experience or any bachelors degree. Sometimes the GS-04s will be 60 credits instead, or 6 credits in field, and sometimes the gs-05s will want 24 credits in a related field.

>looking for a government job
>they're all tsa agent jobs

True story. Everything else still requires a diploma.
