What's the best degree to get in order to get an H1-B (or similar/"qualified immigrant") visa relatively easily after graduation?

I'm looking for the option which offers the best prospects. I don't come from an elite school.
>>
>>1052890

i thought H1B is 'special skills' are explicitly for people demonstrating skills but lacking a degree?
>>
>>1052896
you are wrong in the most basic sense of the word....

it legit says on the website a degree is the bare minimum
>>
>>1052890
i heard comp sci specialised in programming is the way to go but it still requires some company to do paperwork for you and prove they didnt find an american to do the job

afaik its this correct me if im wrong? also interested in how hard is it for a masters degree white person from a nordic country to immigrate to USA without falling to a mexicans level and do illegal shit/fake marriage
>>
>>1053005
>specialised in programming
Could you be more specific?

What about other fields like data science or security?

Is a PhD a guarantee to obtain a residency visa?
>>
>>1052890
The one person I knew who got an H1B because of his US degree managed to land an co-op at a company and sponsors many H1Bs under the guise of training them to set up reactors in India.

His major was chem E. He also had a good GPA and was charismatic as hell.

He makes good money, but is followed everywhere by security and cannot be in any room that handles zirconium.
>>
>>1052890
stay in india.
>>
>>1053564
I'm European (1st world, not Greece or eastern Europe)
>>1053561
I'm not too interested in ChemE, but do you know what else could be useful? See >>1053269

Better yet, kill yourself.
>>
>>1054159
And aside from that, any advice?
>>
>>1054531
suck dick
>>
>get a job in a multinational
>get transferred to US branch
>enjoy residency
>get naturalized
Isn't that the best course of action?

By the way, everyone here recommends engineering/CS in order to become an expat in the US, but how unlikely is it to get a US job with an economics degree, and what kind of job could I get?
I want to get a master's and probably focus on something like geopolitics, economic intelligence or whatever. Would it be worthless?

Computer Science, BUT only if you study hard.

I make 200k on an H-1B in the US. I'm a job-stealing
Canadian
.

Watch the elections.

If Trump wins: focus on whatever they need in your shit country.

If Hillary wins: public administration

If Sanders wins: Black Studies

If Rubio wins: Male Sexuality

If Christie wins: Criminal Justice

If Jeb wins: Chinese

If you feel like working for the same company for 10 years, go right ahead

Unless you marry here
>>
>>1057314
>for 10 years
Is that always the case?
I was told some people become expats after two or three years.
>Unless you marry here
I could go to Vegas on a holiday and marry a stripper, then divorce once everything's settled. What's the catch?
>>1057304
Is Trump against all immigration, especially qualified, white immigrants from developed countries?
Because I'm not a muslim/indian/gook, I'm getting a degree, and my country's not shit.
>>1057280
Do you have a master's?
Also, I suspect it's much easier for Canadians to work in the US
>>
>>1057843
> I could go to Vegas on a holiday and marry a stripper, then divorce once everything's settled. What's the catch?

Do you really think the US government hasn't thought of this? You have to stay married for three years and provide documentation of co-habitation etc. It's obvious why you didn't go to an elite school. Keep your mediocre brain in your mediocre country and fuck off.
>>
>>1057845
Which is why I asked what the catch was since it did seem too simple, thanks for clarifying. I heard stories about arranged marriages in the US so I wasn't sure.
There's no need to be so mad, though
>>
>>1052890
Indian SWE are almost always garbage. No offense... Indian mechanical engineers, I've had some luck with. The caste system over there fucks up the whole flow. You've got super confident Brahmin sacks of shit that don't know how to turn a computer on, but expect $75/hr; meanwhile, there's genius untouchables, who are timid as mice, and think they take direction from the cafeteria worker, because she has a dot on her head.

If you aren't Indian, disregard all of this.
>>
>>1057843
1a - yes, if you've been a legal residence for 7-10 years you can apply for full citizenship
1b - You can but now you have to be married for 3-5 years, provide all documents to living together, and have to match most of your wife's answers when interviewed

2 - Trump is against illegal immigration but liberal propaganda just blow it out of proportion because the majority voters are idiots.

3 - Yes it's much easier for canadians and most border states have stream line deals with canada on tax repayments and stuff.
>>
>>1057855
>full citizenship
That isn't as important to me as simply being allowed to reside in the US indefinitely (permanent residency).

Forget the marriage thing, it was hypothetical. I'm guessing marriage is a poor investment in America anyway.

>against illegal immigration
Wouldn't harsher laws against illegal immigrants make it easier for legal, qualified immigrants to enter US territory anyway? Assuming said illegals are stealing a substantial amount of jobs from American citizens
>>

>Wouldn't harsher laws against illegal immigrants make it easier for legal, qualified immigrants to enter US territory anyway? Assuming said illegals are stealing a substantial amount of jobs from American citizens
People seem to forget this
>>
>>1057871
Either way Trump probably isn't getting elected, is he? The majority of American media seems biased against him, just like he's considered to be more of a joke or nutjob than anything else in other countries.
>>
>>1057843
No catch

Get married, head to immigration, start the process

Couple months later, boom, citizen as long as you're not really shady
>>
>>1052890
Get a shit job nobody wants to do or go back to your shithole.
>>
>>1058317
Like what job?
>>
>>1058317
Even that's not possible, no company would hire an illegal immigrant even for a shit job
>>
>>1059652
Yes they would, but only for dead-end jobs like cashier. Most walmart cashiers are illegals.
>>
STEM, it's exempt from the numerical cap on H1Bs.
>>
Also if you're serious about staying in the US forever just join the Army. Go Reserve, do a support job. Get your citizenship right away. I did that.
>>
>>1052890
Go away shit skin
>>
>>1061294
But they don't allow you to join the army unless you've been a resident for 2+ years. How did you do it?

Also does a graduate degree change anything for H1B? Are MSc and/or PhD holders exempt from the H1B cap if the degree is a relevant subject (eg. finance, economy, etc)?

bump for this
