Why does this matter? People live better than ever right now. Just because someone has $100billion and I have only $1million doesn't make it worth any less.

Define ever. Also the inflation isn't the only factor in raising prices. Cross the evolution pf the cost of higher education with the graph, and you'll see that for half of the U.S population, the chances of having a degree (and use it as a way out of poverty) are worse now than "ever" since the 50's.
