Any Amazon sellers out there with good tips to pass on to someone starting out? Anything I should know or watch out for?

What kind of selling are you planning, OP? FBA? Merchant fulfilled? How do you plan on sourcing inventory?

I am planning to take full advantage of FBA as I will be working another 3 jobs at the same time and packaging etc is not really going to be an easy option.
I am planning to start of private labeling, I also have a few unique original ideas that I wish to peruse in the future if things go well.

You're doing it right then. As in your case, this is a hobby for me, my full time income comes from other places. After all the setup is done, it's about 2-5 hours per month of my time.
Unique is good, but don't be stumped into inaction because you can't find anything unique. There's enough money on Amazon that you can make plenty selling a knock off of someone else's, then just mine for reviews. That's what I did. I only sell one unique product (and it's one of my lower performing SKUs). The rest is a mix of about 7 products, with one in particular that represents probably 90% of my sales.

And by knock offs, I meant finding something that sells now and sourcing the same thing from over in China. Jungle Scout can help with this, but I'll be honest, my biggest money maker was just me bringing something over because I thought it was cool. No real stats behind it.
