Is it possible to make a living with music? Not a multi millionaire Coke party Justin bieber career but like owning a decent one story house in long beach with a corvette and a motorcycle with a garage?

I hear about a ton of no name rappers and shit like that pulling 200k out of their bank. Surely I can get at least entry level?

You have to be proactive ie don't just smoke weed in the studio.

Go to the club and befriend DJS. Get your music played and get shows. Get flyers.

Basically just do things outside your fucking house and you're in the top 20% that has a chance compared to the 80% of fluff music.

With music you are either a 1 in 1000 hit, or a starving artist who is enjoying life and following their dreams.

Doesn't sounds too bad to me.
Automation is killing all other careers. Its easier than ever to get exposure. why not go for it if you genuinely have something good to contribute.

I'm in the music business anon, digital composer/sound-guy/studio engineer whatever you wanna call it.

The key to this stuff is output. Just continuously make music. If you make enough stuff, rule of averages says that at least a small percentage of it will be successful. And make music FOR stuff. People don't care about shit they've never heard before. People want to listen to stuff they already know. That's why doing remixes catapults people into stardom.

If you're more of a live guy, just play as many gigs as possible. And fill a niche that isn't filled in your area, don't do what everyone else is doing.

Network with people who make short films and games and advertisements. If you can get your foot in that door, that's a good place to wind up. Make music for a 30sec ad for some company and you could rake in 20k.

Yes.

but focus on PRODUCTION. Not making the fucking music.

If you have a studio and can do quality production and recording you can always make money. If you are just YOLO Im gonna be a rockstar, you aint gonna make it.
