I'm entering my finale year of my bachelor of commerce majoring in finance and economics.
As an ausfag, I'm curious as to the relevance of an MBA. should I bother? what will I learn from an MBA? How essential is it to my career?

MBA is usually a post-grad thing. First get a job, earn some cash and think about it later.

Lot of variance among MBA programs--some (not most) are very technical, with lots of finance and economics mathematics. Most are fluffier and will not teach you much, but that's not the point--the point is to network and intern while in school, and then get hired by some other MBA when you get out (in my experience, people with MBAs hire other people with MBAs).
