Asked elsewhere but didn't get any responses, so what's /biz/ opinion on urban planning as a career?

I did a business degree, with a major in business law (Ireland, so not actually qualified to practice law without further study and an apprenticeship) and a minor in management. I'm thinking of doing a masters in planning & development for a career as an urban planner, as law is apparently somewhat relevant and I'm not really interested in being a lawyer.

Thoughts?

Also, career advice general, I suppose.

bump. been thinking along these lines also.

I was very interested in this as well but after I researched it I got a bit discouraged. Seems like most schools are just theory so a lot of programs don't give you any real skills. Those skills are needless to say, important.
>>
The jobs i've seen posted (AUS) seem pretty open, like not requiring actual qual in the field but able to adjust to the field with experience in law being important.

Do you see many job postings, esp. at entry level?

urban planning, if you want to zone and shit you can only expect to work for the government, if you want to design parts of the cities, through masterplans, that is what architects are payed for. the only other option is to make 'social media events' which I saw some urban designers are involved with.
