Currently a Computer Engineering student, money/family problems have left me a year behind. I was originally going out of state on a full scholarship, but the aforementioned issues have made it no longer an option.

My in-state unis aren't known much for their engineering schools, but it's a more financially feasible option.

Unfortunately, I couldn't even transfer credits from my old uni until two days ago; should I just miss another semester and then transfer back in-state? I don't mind student loans (I still don't want them, but without my scholarship I can't afford school), but would rather they be as little as possible.

depends on the states really but if I were you I'd go back. if we're talking connecticut back to massachusetts there's no big deal in heading back, but some other states have a more drastic difference in the quality of their programs. the financially more feasible option will give you more leeway in your future, and I can only speak for myself when I say the added pressure of more expensive tuition/loans would drive me nuts.

in the meantime, self-study, start writing people associated with the in-state university like some sort of engineering advisor and get their advice.
