There is not a finite number of "jobs" in the world. Jobs do not get mined out of job mines. A job is created when someone needs something done by a person but doesn't have the capacity to do the work himself, so he pays someone to do it for him. As the world has become industrialized the amount of work a single person can do increased. That means that growing enough to eat is no longer a problem in many parts of the world, freeing up labor to work on other more advanced tasks like construction, engineering, and trade.

The cycle doesn't end. As we automate more and more it's simply going to allow people to do more and more work, letting humanity build grander and grander works.
