Sup /biz/
/fit/bro here and i am looking for some advice.

This year i have decided to save some money and i am thinking of putting it in mutual funds [medium/high risk] since i have zero experience in investing and it looks like bank deposits have extra low return in my europoor country.

Is this a good idea? I dont have all day to study the market but i want a good way to save up money for a car [1-2 years ahead]

Thanks /biz/bros :]

Investing is for 3-5 years minimum, if you want to save for 1-2 years put it in a Tax free saving account (ISA if you're on the UK) or 1 or 2 year fixed term bonds if you do not need to access the money ever.

I've given you the advice, don't like what you see? Tough, investing is not for 1-2 year plans.

its 2016 already, indexes have been around since the 70's
a really nice car 100k, you needed 85k for it at 8%

In two years you could probably just work for the extra 15k. just paint a few rooms per month. mow some lawns.

Rule #1 of investing understand what you're putting your money into. its not a black box that spits out cash.
Just like you don't eat processed food, or go to planet fitness, you don't do processed finance or go to globobank or Stevie McShill. Its a serious subject are you going to let the banks well known for their upfront business models and saving the consumer money, pitch you?

It cant be that bad right? The bank's lowest risk Mutual fund has 3-4% interest [the medium/high one has 8-10%] and it has kept it almost every year since the 90s. And I am allowed to put my money in it for 1 year so why not take advantage.. Also i will see if is worth continuing putting money in it for years ahead.

If i make a deposit i will be getting half the interest% and even less if i use a savings account..

Mutual Funds cant be that risky campared to this Robin Hood app ive been reading about
